I agree, completely ridiculous. What's cool about making your car audio system so loud that it'll make you go deaf in less than a week?

i saw an episode of Pimp my Ride where they had to install a custom steel frame to mount this sucker into a guy's car. the woofer weighs in at over 350 pounds, and it makes you wonder how any car could still drive properly with it in there. its like having a GIANT fat guy in your backseat all the time. or a bunch of dead bodies.
why oh why would you ever put something so ridiculous in your car, i just dont know. they mounted a ... decibel meter? ... in the guys dash so he wouldnt go deaf. if he turned it up to loud, it would give him a flashing warning sign. id say he will still go deaf in a month...

Strontium Ferrite magnet... Couldn't they have used neodynium and saved a bunch on weight?
As for practicality, you could install 5 (obscenely expensive IMO) Audiobahn subs to get the same power handling with lighter weight and more installation flexibility at less than 1/4 the price.

Ok, that just totally blows my mind. First, how would you even begin to build an enclosure that would come close to having enough structural rigidity to handle the pressure that thing will put out? And second, if you need an engine hoist just to mount your subwoofer, you have a serious problem. The only thing this sub is good for is pure DB competition...maybe. It's completely impractical and I can't believe it's not a hoax. Is MTX really that stupid? And is anybody really stupid enough to actually buy one?

my dad has a chevy sprint. it came with NO sway bars, front or rear... we've upgraded that thing suspension-wise so much. ultra thick sway bars and stiffer springs all around. its fun, but only around corners.

You don't need an enclouser the sub is open air. And the last I checked (8-10 monthes ago) you coundnt buy one, pimp my ride did so they could be the first to do it. Well the good thing about a 350lb sub is no punk ass kid is going to be able to lift the thing out of your car, so you dont have to worry about it being stolen.
