Mugen Spoiler

4713 Views 15 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  cloors
There is this ratty, rusty CRX driving around town here. It seriously looks like no one loves it, HOWEVER...

As I was walking by it yesterday I saw it pulling away, and it has a spoiler on it, black like the car, flush with the rear deck, with the mugen logo on it. Not a great description, but I know it didn't look anything like my special edition spoiler.

Does anyone have a picture of this or know what it's worth?

And can anyone tell me what it would be doing on such an uncared for CRX being driven in the winter in BC's north?....

You mean like this one?!

If so I'll be more than happy to buy it off of you.

That is it exactly!!!! It's not in the best shape, but that's it! Do you have any info on it?
The spoiler is very flexable. It's made out of space age rubber sent to Jupiter for processing and then sent back here to earth where Mugen "accidentally" stole it from area 51 and molded them into spoilers.

No but seriously it's probably worth some coin if it's the real thing. But not many people like so it's a question of taste.
I've been looking for one in good condition. I am currently piecing together the Vis Mugen kit but I would prefer to have some authentic Mugen pieces. Problem is finding them in good condition and with the mounting hardware.

Are you looking to buy that for yourself or pick up and sell?

I'd be SERIOUSLY interested in it(if its not bashed up)........
and would make it worth your while if you picked it up.
But also what don said....
The real ones are made of a flexible material and the mugen emblem is on the back like the pic I posted earlier plus its molded onto the innerside of the wing.
They are real if they meet that criteria....oh did I mention I want it if you dont?
I have one of those spoilers. It needs to be repainted. I can't wait to get it installed on my white car. I absolutely love the look of the mugen spoiler. Very sleak. Be careful when buying them though. A lot of people try to pawn off replica's as original Mugen spoilers. The originals are really flexible and are made of polyurethane. Most replicas are fiberglass or carbon fiber.
I was considering a Mugen replica, but ultimately decided on the VT/SiR/SE spoiler. It does hog up the rear view though. :?

What kind of condition is yours in sticker? Did you get the mounting hardware with it as well or are you making your own? There is one on ebay right now but I hope to find one in better condition.

I got an e-mail from a guy earlier mentioning he can get me an entire copy of the mugen body kit for 1100 including shipping from UK. I'm probably not going with it but here are some pics he sent me. He didn't have any pics of the wing though. I will probably go with the Vis Techno kit, I am just worried about fitment of the door caps and I would prefer a different rear bumper. I've also heard that the actual mugen door caps have a different profile then the WW door caps. But I will keep looking.

The spoiler is in pretty much perfect condition. It just needs new paint. The only small problem with it is that the screws that hold on the bracket are stripped. Easy fix.
If I can find the guy (and I live in a very small town, shouldn't be difficult) I'll ask if he wants to part with it. It looked very authentic from where I was, but I'd have to check again.

I really have no use for it though, simply because I don't plan on buying another CRX and I would never take the spoiler off my special edition. So if I do pick it up it'd be nice to sell it to someone who would give it a good home!
If you have seen my car you would definatly be giving it to a good home.I dont wanna sound pompous, but I pride myself on a nice clean car.
Ask anyone thats seen it they'll agree....

Cleanest CRX I've seen in a long time. Definitely the cleanest turbo'd mini-me in a Y-49 in the world. LOL. Honestly, Ollie's car makes me extremely jealous. He has it all. Insane fast CRX, low miles, ultra clean.
