I'm not sure if you guys remember i had an issue with my car not starting a month ago... it turned out to be the distributor, so i bought a rebuild and i changed it (i know, i should've bought new, i didn't know better at the time... and needed the car!)... so from there i took a trip to montreal to get my new SIR front end, and came back... the next day my distributor died again!... so we changed the distributor AGAIN (under rebuild warrenty), this time with a new cap, wires, plugs...

the car was good for a couple weeks... but died again last night, and i'm suspecting the distributor...

can someone tell me, whats eating my distributors up? i'm assuming its an electrical issue? ANY guidance at this point would be much appreciated...

i'm picking up another car to get around with for now, so i will be able to do drastic work (change the engine/convert to obd-1) to this thing and not have to worry about driving it the next day.

help :(

That's a strange one. It's usually the ignitors in the disty that go bad. Have you checked for spark to see if it's actually the dist. this time? Are the connectors corroded at all, are they near a heat source? Check the wiring schematic and see how it's grounded, make sure the ground wire isn't messed up.

Good luck, that's a weird one.

It is actually the distributor, no connectors corroded that i can see (now are you talking about the dist. plugs? or plug wires?), the engine count as a heat source  ?... i will check grounding, thanks dude

finally got this problem fixed. It was a loose wire that kept shorting out the distributor, burning out the coils. So far the car's running nice now, feels SO good to have it back on the road 8)
