Need info on a 90 CRX

Hey guys, I am going out today to look at a 1990 CRX. It is owned by a guy who lives like 20 minutes from me so I am going to go look at the car tonight.
I however would like to know some info on the 90 CRX. Like what models of the car were made in 1990? As far as I know there are three models of the 1990 CRX. They are the HF, DX, and SI. I may be wrong so please correct me if I am.
So next what are some specs on each model?
Like what hp does each have? Things like this would be handy to know.
If no one has that info, then how about which is better? I would assume the list goes SI being the best followed by DX then HF being the worst.
Also is there any easy way to check which model the car is?
Like I assume that if it was a SI it would say that on the back hey?
But then how could I tell a HF from a DX?

Sorry to ask so much but I just want to know what I am buying when I go there tonight! Any and all knowledge that would help me find out these things would help immensely!

Si will also have "ED9" in the VIN and have ALL black interior with Black sport seats with red striping. '90 Crx SI's also have rear disc brakes.

Dx is your mid grade model.

HF is your fuel economy, gas sipper and lightest model.
There were no HF's sold in Canada, so it won't be an HF unless it was brought in from the states.

The quickest way to tell what it is will be to look at the roof. Sunroof = Si, no sunroof = dx.

Dx = D15B2, DPFI, 92hp.
Si = D16A6, MPFI, 108hp.
Yea pretty sure it's Canadian so I think your right...

Didn't know that about the HF.

You want to look for a FACTORY Power sunroof. Make sure that it is not an aftermarket one that was installed. It should be a solid panel, not glass.
K im a retard just checked the add again and it says 1990 Honda CRX SI...
So I guess I know what it is... :oops:

Going in about 30 mins to check it out. Wish me luck!
Is it just in ontario, or why are there so many Si's around? They're the only ones listed here, and I woulda thought there would be more of the other types. Just wondering >_>;

Canadians are just smart enough to see that the Si was the best value. :wink:
So?? :D
So?? :D
there are verry few dx's around but there are a couple. oh and i hope it works out just remember in the world of import tuners you get what you pay for.
not that you have to worry about it being and hf but another thing to do is pop the hood and see if the cat is choked up in the manifold.. dead giveaway of an hf.. other than the other things mentioned.. and i dont care what anyone says i love my HF :) smaller tank and i still go around 300+ miles a tank :)
Well everyone I am not the proud owner of a 1990 Honda CRX SI!!!
This is my very first CRX and I have been waiting and searching for so long now to find one!
The guy said he would deliver the car to me tomorrow because right then it wasn't ready to be driven. The only reason it wasn't was because it didn't have the shifter knob... I agreed and said that I could wait till tomorrow...
The car is sweet though!
It ran great. I drove it down the road and back again to see how everything was working. Run like a dream and was very quick to drive.
And won't believe how clean the interior is until you see it. The car doesn't look as sharp on the outside because it has a replacement hood, and driver's side front quarter panel. Which are not the same color of the car. This is because the car was in an accident that wrecked the hood, quarter panel and radiator. But he has replaced all of those since then. Just hasn't had the time to repaint anything. The back bumper is also wrecked because of a minor accident. But he has the bumper to replace it which I looked at while I was there. Other than that the car looks really good. The body is not bent at all and everything lines up well.
So really all I have to do is put on the new rear bumper and a few lights and it will be road worthy!
I don't think I will even worry about repainted anything until the summer anyways...
Rust, well there was almost none! Just a few specs on the wheel wells as usual, but nothing bad at all.
So yea I am really happy I got this car for so cheap and I hope it turns out to be all I think it is!
I will take pictures of t when I get it tomorrow.
Btw I got the car for $1700. That's Canadian and I think for the year and the quality it's in that it is a steal!

Sounds likes theres some good and some bad, but either way congrats! I might've had my crx by now if it wasnt for the seller not returning calls -_-;
Hope you have fun with it when it comes!

So you DIDN"T get it but he is dropping it off anyway...good deal!!!! :?:

IT may just have a "few specs", but if not taken care or promptly, it can get out of hand and get worse quickly.
Well once I get some pictures posted then you guys can tell me whether I need to worry about anything or not.

The car in it's current state is multi colored.
Hood is red.
Left quarter is black.
Front bumper is black.
Rear replacement bumper is like a teal stock color (what is the name of that color? The car is originally like that teal color...)
And the rest of the body has been repainted like viper blue.

So I am stuck wondering what to do about the paint situation. The way I see it there are three courses of action that I can take:
1. Leave it and just wait till next summer then worry about paint.
2. Just repaint the new pieces to match the car.
3. Like totally strip the car of all paint the do it completely over with a fresh color.

I am not working on a huge budged and was wondering how much you think it would cost to get the entire car painted? That's if I was to prep it all myself then take it into some paint shop locally?

The color is Tahitian Green, or Secretary Green, as some would call it.
I like that color the best.

If you are on a tight budget, pull the pieces off and paint them, there may be a color matching issue, however.

On the paint estimate, you really need to talk to several shops to find out how much it'll be...

Congrats, now welcome to the grind of fixing YOUR CRX up the way YOU would like it to be.

The reason I say that is that some folks want to look good first, then get the "go" later.
I went for the "go" first, and my 90Si looks pretty beat, but, dang is she FAST :D
Yea well I really need to just get it road safe then I can plate it and drive around. Once I have done that then I can get a better feel for it and see what I might want to improve.
