there's a guy selling a b18a (non obd) for 600$ here. it's a b18b block with 2nd gen b16a internals (rods, pistons, crank) and a b18a head. the whole engine's been overhauled by honda and the head's been ported and polished.

it has the fuel rail, dizzy, intake, and harness but it's missing the transmission. is 600$ a fair price for this or is that just @ss rape?

oh, and when i calculated the compression, it came out around 9.5:1cr... which seems pretty low. is that correct?

thanks guys!

Those motors are used for turbos, hence the low compression isn't really a bad thing. As far as the build goes, that all depends upon the quality of work that was done to the engine itself. $600 could be a good deal if everything is there (complete longblow - tranny, clutch, etc.) but it is still an LS.

Buyer beware.

Ummm if they use a B16 crank/rod then it's a very low compression 1.6L lol. I'm sure it only has pistons which would up the compression a bit.

hmm.. thanks for the input. i've been searching on the average price for a b18a longblock (non obd) and the average seems to be around 350-400 stock. but yeah, there's no transmission so im gonna try to do better than 600. i still gotta grab the mounts, shift linkage, and ecu. probably set me back another 500$

... and then i gotta worry about the transmission.

i double checked what he told me. he says everything from the crank, rods, and pistons were from the 1.6...

not sure if im using this compression calc right but...

bore: 81
stroke : 77 (from the b16)
cc per cyl.: 45
piston dome displacement (cc per piston): 6.93
gasket thickness: .029
deck height: .03

i come up with 9.9:1cr....???

sorry for the stupid questions.
