Hi everyone I'm new here, I'm 19 and from Chicago, Illinois. I just bought a 1988 CRX DX and I'm planning on doing what I can for this car. Basically it's a learning project, I'm new to cars but I have the time and patience to learn what I need to learn. Hope you guys can help.

Welcome! It's a good car to learn on. What sort of immediate things do you want to do with it?
Well the exhaust has a muffler issue, like muffler not even connected to the rest of the exhaust system. So thats probably first for engine type things. The windshield needs to be replaced, but thats just an issue of having the money to do it. The first thing I'm going to do with the body is paint the trim. The previous owner got spray paint all over it when they tried to make the rust look like it wasn't rust. So that'll be the first thing on my list for the body. And for the interior, well the I have the speaker covers but the speakers that came with the car are a bit too big so I'm going to sell them for some speakers that will actually fit. Anyone want to buy a set of 4 Audiobahn speakers?

If I were you, my first mod would be a MPFI convertion. The dx mondle of the crx's is a Duel Injected 88-91 while the HF and SI IS Multi Injected. In other words you car has two injectors and the HF adn SI have four.
And that is the first thing you need to change to do any honda engine swap. As for you Muffler problem I would just get some pipe welded in there for now, and put A nice exhaust system later on after you figure out witch swap you want.

Hey thanks for the advice guys. How would I go about modding the fuel injectors? Is it hard? How much will it cost? One last question... how will it effect the performance of my engine?

Actually I'm having another problem and just figured I'd post it here. Yesterday I was trying to see what kind of condition my air filter was in. So I start trying to unscrew the case and the screws are like rusted in there. I used that pb blaster stuff but it didn't do jacksh**. Can you guys recommend something? thanks.

Let the blaster soak in for a while and take them out with vise grips.. try lightyy tapping the screws down with a hammer too as the blaster soaks in this will help it find its way down into the bolt threads better and loosen rust buildup on the bolt.

I agree with the MPFI swap.... its not that all hard...
you will just need to start scrounging some parts..
you will need a SI intake complete with its throttlebody, injectors, fuel rail sensors etc...

a si computer PM6 model

SI or HF distributor

Injector resistor box from an SI

Some ecu harness pins, some wire solder and tape or shrink wrap some instructions and a few hours...

its not really all that bad.... it seems hard... but once its done you will see that basically you just added 4 wires ( 2 to the distro and 2 to the injectors) and you changed some parts that all just bolt on in place of the ones you replaced. . .

good luck. . .

If you're talking about an impact driver go to Harbor Freight. I bought mine there for 3.99 and it came in a nice carrying case with a decent number of bits and such.
