I have a stock cd player out of I think a 93 civic, on the sticker with the diagram it says "Caution This unit will not operate unless the equalizer is installed or the special cap is in place" I don't have a special cap. The cable it plugs into looks like an old type of computer cable with 8 holes in it and is 5/8" accross.
Anybody know where I can get this Special cap ? or what it looks like? or a diagram of what it does? I figure I can jump the wires myself if thats what it does and can find out where they go.
The Honda dealership near me says it's some cable that's discontinued.

*Stumped* a pic would really help.
I didn't think Cd players were an option for the 5th gen civic. This is why pics would help.

Yeah I wanted to post a pic of the plug but my cameras broke, I need to go use my cousins, I might be able to do that later.

They were an option starting with the 4th gens I believe. The 91 CRX Si SE came with a CD player too.
Hmm, i didn't realize they were an option that early.
I actually found a pic of one from a little Honda Accessories Brochure that i have from 1990.

I've seen that cap on the back of some headunits in the junkyard. IIRC, it's round, made of off-white plastic, protrudes from the back of the headunit about a half an inch and has a molded-in loop so you can pull it out. If you can't find one locally, I could go grab one and mail it to you - the yard would probably just give it to me.

Of all places I did find one..... in my own garage at the old house, attached to my origanal 1990 crx Honda 2000 radio. Looks just like you say bobski.
And it works too, the radio at least but the cd player part doesn't, it spins the disk kinda slow. I'm gonna open it up and see if there's anything I can do for it. I'm probly wasting time but I'm wanting a stock cd player that doesn't say "Steel me" like aftermarket ones do.

Just pick up a 94-01 Integra OEM Cd player/reciever. Those plug right into the factory Crx wiring harness.
Any single-DIN Honda or Acura head unit will plug right in.
Not true, i had an OEM Cd head unit from a 99-00 SI, that did NOT plug right in to my Crx. I had to use a wiring harness and hook it up like an aftermarket deck. The plug coming from the Crx is bigger (longer) than the "SI" unit will accept and will not plug in.
