:rolleyes1: well lets see sorry no pictures yet but i well get some this weekend... car: 1988 SI mileage when bought 230k present 236k oil consumption 1gt a week with a pain in the arse commute. when purchased prev. owner was a freind and it turns out he had cut springs and some no name yucky shocks which were recently replaced with tokico illuminas and eibach sport lines (#1 all around good for comuteing #1in front and #2 or #3 in back depending on how much fun i want to have in the rear on the weekends) as you well soon see it is yellow with a messed up rear bumper damage to the rear passenger fender area and is equipped with a non working sun roof

plans for the beast: currently saving up for a new engine undecided which route to go since i have been a long time lurker on many forums i am leaning towards a b16 that and a "freind's friend's" shop well install and get it reffed for around 2k since living in the bay area ca i want/need to stay legit :( and of course replacing that clutch well be a nice treat. for exterior i would like to get that rear passenger fender area and the bumper fixed and umm thats it mayby some 15" wheels but my buddie is giving me some 16"s for free :) oh yea and i know just a b16 may not keep up with a 5.0 mustang but since my best friend just got one that is one of my goals

background: many many many beater cars and limited mechanical abbilities basicaly still learning as i go and looking forward to learning how to rebuild a engine. my last car was a VW corrado G60 and althou some may hate me i still love that car but i wouldn't trade it for my crx since it handles better, is faster and more trust worthy almost as good looking

stomping grounds are concord to disco-bay especialy deer vally and marsh creek r.i.p. empire road

favorite drink if yuo can not tell yet is vodka

anyways even if i don't post allot i well be around even more and looking forwards to learning as much as possible as soon as possible if anyone has any advice especialy on engine choices/set ups please let me know

Welcome.

A quart of oil every week is a LOT. I've never had a car that burned large amounts of oil, I think I would really hate that. I like the B16, it's a good base, but there are people here that would say it's overrated, slow for the money, etc. It's your car though, do what you want.

From what I've seen, a B16 CRX is a good match for a 5.0 Mustang, especially since you have an 88. If the Mustang has mods though, it will be a tough call.

Good luck, keep us posted, and get some pics! :p

Dark beer! YUmmmmm! One of my favorites I used to get back in Boston was called Terrible, by Unibroue. Delicious!

Oh, and beater yellow crxs are cool too!!!

SOmehow I can't see a b16crx hanging with a 5.0 mustang, but I could be wrong.

Consider this.....(click here)
and offer you this http://www.arrogantbastard.com/ and if it is all goofed up oh well you should still check out the beer if you like dark
That's very good because I meant it as a joke!
(I really do have a sense of humor, despite what people may think.)

However, I also have a love of our language, and I hate to see it diminished. Try to use good grammar, punctuation and spelling and I will love you for it.

Oh, and I love dark beer!
(Me, you and Dren should have a beer thread as a sticky!)

If you like dark beer, you should be sure to check out "Old Rasputin."
It's ABV: 8.9%!!!

Old Rasputin is some tasty stuff. I got some for my Dad for christmas. Arrogant Bastard is good stuff too, I'm more of a stout guy myself, I don't like seeing through my beers at all.

Why is it the only thing I could focus on was a partial sentence of:

" ... depending on how much fun i want to have in the rear on the weekends ... "

I burst out laughing and haven't stopped....

Anyway, welcome aboard.

I'd just leave the b16 in.. if it were me, I would rebuild the motor (since it burns 1qt of oil a week.) get some buddy club stage 2 cams (higher lift and duration than skunk2 stage 2) and the valve train to go with it. Port the intake manifold and the head to match the cam specs. and I'd say you be showing the mustang your tail lights. My buddy has a 1990 5.0gt with underdrive pulleys, 373 gears, headers, h-pipe, 3" exhaust, and a cold air intake and my other friend has a stock gsr in a 1990 civic 4 door and the civic wins every time by 3-4 cars. [/ my input]

Welcome!

Yes, another y49 to the family.

Get that rear bumper support looked at. It looks exactly like my 90 Si.
The floor pan in mine is a lil boogered but totally unoticeable.

Some adhesive remover will get the nasty doublesided factory foam tape off your rear quarters.

imo id ditch the b16 and drop in a b18c or a "poor man's type-r".
