Hello- I sent someone $60 on Venmo for an emergency brake handle. 35 for the handle, $25 for shipping. Today, he is asking me for $45 more dollars to be sent immediately for an additional shipping fee.
What is the standard for how this site works. This doesn't feel like an honest transaction to me at all.
Thanks

Our forums don't govern the money involved in a transaction. That''s completely between the buyer/seller.

That said....it doesn't sound right. The brake handle shouldn't cost more than $20 for the part and the shipping combined.
$60 was already on the high side. There's no reason it should cost an additional $45.

If I were you, I'd try to argue against paying with the seller at the very minimum.
I'm not sure how Venmo works. But if you can cancel the transaction all together, I'd opt for that...then find another brake handle from someone else.

Just so we know....who is the seller?

I have all the emails and proof of payment. I don't imagine I will get the part because I did not send an additional $45 because the whole thing didn't feel right. I guess there is a reason I only buy things on Ebay, because it has security measures in place.
His information is: [email protected]

Ohhh ok. I see it now. I was the one who removed the post actually....after determining that the account was spam. Looks like Amy made her deal with them before I removed their post.

I guess this serves as a good reminder to everyone to be careful with members who have recently registered and are offering parts that you're looking for.

Tell-tale signs are generic posts like:
"I have what you need. Email me at ____"

Or the other trending template is something like:
"(Insert generic name) has (copy and paste the item description) for a good price. Email them at _"

I try to wipe them out as soon as I see posts like those. But if I don't get to them in time, proceed with caution.

I tried looking that up last night but it seems like it would be difficult. I'm just going to let it go and continue my search for the brake handle (most likely on Ebay). Lesson learned, I need to be more careful:)

From now on, use Paypal.

I don’t have FB:(
Maybe consider getting FB to join the Community to hunt down your parts.

Besides the other red flags, that price is ridiculous. They go for around 20-35 shipped in the lower 48 normally.

I don't know what parts go for, I'm not a CRX parts specialist. And unfortunately I can be naive and assume the best in people. Like if someone says something is for sale and they will send it to me, I assume they will. Most of the time this works out for me:) Moving on......
