Please...PLEEEEESE STOP!

What is up with everybody calling our cars CR-X'es and EF's?
I tried it on a friend. And Cee Ar hyphen Ecks just doesn't flow right.

Can we make a deal?
Could we all please refer to our cars properly?
If it's not an EF, it's not an EF.
If it's not a SiR, it's not a SiR.
This is just about as cool as Type-R badges.

My ED9 has every imaginable VT part bolted to it you can think of.
That still doesn't make it an EE8 VT. It's just something I'll have to live with.

I know I sound like I have sand in my vagina. But I was really hoping this ridiculous fad would not blow over to this place.

I agree with you on the CR-X and SiR... but EF is a general grouping for 88-91 Civic/CRXs all over. I'm pretty sure if someone says "I have an EF hatch" or "the EF is a good chassis" you don't immediately think they are rolling around in a JDM machine.

-tom, driving a EF8 CR-X VTEC :rolleyes1:

Bas, I think your being too critical.
"EF" is just a generalization and nothing more.

CR-X, CRX, Civic, who cares?

I got a hat that says "crx ed9" and some losers on some car boards said "WHY DIDNT YOU GET EF9 PUT ON THERE?!" then went into some lame jdm argument about ef8 and ef9.

I don't care what people call their cars, i just hate it when someone calls my car something its not.

I agree with Seti on this one. I always try to refer to my car as an ED chassis.

I completely agree with Bas, that's bothered me for years also.
That's worse to me than the people around me saying that their "From New Orleans" when we live 10 miles outside it's limits.
Just kinda buggs the hell out of me.

Agreed, a dog should be called a dog and not a cat  The same goes with EF - it's JDM specific.

Still don't know why Honda put a "-" in the JDM CR-X's.

People refer to the Mazda RX7/8 as as rex here also.

Ok, sure...sounds reasonable. Too bad that more ofteh than not, EF parts won't bolt on to my car.
So what's the use of this "generalization"?
What's the use of any generalization...what's wrong with being specific?

I will admit I could probably search and find it, but I am guilty of calling my car an EF and I'd just generally like to know what the different chassis codes for the CRX are.

I'm aware (from this thread and elsewhere) that we have EF8 EF9 ED8. I didn't honestly know I was wrong in calling the CRX an EF. 1

So how about someone takes this thread to a whole 'nother level and makes it an explanation for us fools who see a civic hatch and get excited over parts?

I'm gonna call a CRX a CRX and I will call my hatch an EF as it is an EF chassis. Yes, the vin says ED5 or ED6, but if I say ED5 people with be like, WHA? :? but if I say EF they will be like, oh I get it :) .

Haha.

I felt the same way when i had my '93 hatch, and when ppl refer to 5th gen Civics as an "EG", when that is not what they are. Some are EH's and some are EJ's, not all were EG's.

My Crx is an ED9, although i am guilty of having the "CR-X" logo on my center rear taillight panel. :)
