Playstation 3 component shortages

Frankly, I think the folks at Sony are doing this to themselves. Shipping only a quarter of the units at launch as they were planning to, and leaving out all PAL territories, is not confidence inspiring. We don't even know how many of those will be the $500 versions and how many will be the $600 premium sets. I don't care so much though, I'm going to camp out and get one to sell on ebay. The limited number of consoles should only drive up demand, which will increase my profit.

What do you people think?

did that exact same thing with the xbox. bought a base stsyem, for 300 i believe, sold it on ebay for around 700. worth the 6 hour wate in the dark outside a toy store with total straingers. actualy, it starts some pretty interesting convorsations.
Remember when the PS2 came out? I believe it was around only 500,000 units that were available stateside. I remember i waited for bout 8 hours in the rain at Best Buy to get the damn thing. Now my PS2 is just swarmed with those disc read errors...oh well, had some good memories.

As for the PS3, I think its just way too expensive to even think about waiting in line. I'll wait a couple years for a price drop.

Those were in the VERY early versions. That has been fixed, the later "big console" versions are not like that as well as the newer slim ones.
I had a PS2 from the initial first wave when they came out and had the disc read error. I packed it up and sold it on ebay a yr or so ago for $75 and put that towards purchasing the newer slim version. No probs so far, smaller and works fine.
