Something to really think about when you're sitting at the lights next to that ricer just begging to get owned...
I had the chance 3 times yesterday, but I let them be idiots and take off on their own. Its not worth a criminal record, jail time, no license, and an impounded vehicle.
I'm done with my ricer ways, can't wait to get to the track!

even though I highly doubt that rex didn't have any extremely rare parts, just think if it did. Now it's all destroyed. They should have at least parted the cars out instead of destroying them, they're just showing they're immaturity. Instead of destroying "$1,000's of dollars worth of parts", sell them to the responsible tuners out there. Destroying everything just seems so childish. Whatever.

Thats mentally retarded...I can surely understand giving punishment to the people racing on the streets, but to DESTORY THE CARS?!?! WTF!!
The people behind the wheels of those cars are the weapons, not the cars themselves...Kill the dumb bastereds willing to run the risk.

Who is street racing killing? Is it ususally the drivers or innocent people? As dumb as I think street racing is, this law is worse.

I think by putting a 16 year old in jail for years is essentially killing that kid. Its no better.

It's just a dumb publicity campaign. Our government is a minority government, which means that they can be overturned at any moment. They are basically pulling stunts like this to get as much media attention and improve their public opinion ratings before they go into the next election.
Street Racing in Canada is an insignificant problem when compared to the loss of life and property damage caused by AUTO THEFT. They would be better off using these seized vehicles in the bait car programs in order to catch and convict car thieves. Kill two birds with one stone: Take away Street Racer's cars and catch a bunch of car thieves. It's a no brainer.

that makes me so mad to destroy someone's work just because they are using it illegally. i highly disagree with street racing becoming a criminal offence becuase like baker said putting a 16 year old behind bars because he/she is irresponsible is overkill. If it were up to me the driver's would lose they're licenses for 6months. and it's not just the gov't of canada that destroy's cars that have been modified to street race, i think cali does the same i was watching a documentary once.
the fact that they would call these some of the fastest vehicles on the road makes the reporters seem ignorant because truth be told a crx that belongs to a teenager is probably not significantly faster than a sport bike, or a 5.0 mustang that's stock.
