Is anybody interested in some kind of post ranking system?

EX: 0-20 posts is "HF member"
21-40 is DX ...etc.

I'm sure some other board members can get creative and come up with some interesting ones. :p

So yay or nay yinz guyz?
But then there would only be three levels... and shouldn't "DX auto" be the lowest, and "Flint Black Si" be the top?

Some of us would take offense at your choice of top and bottom. :)

I don't have a problem with user titles, but I don't think they should be CRX trim levels. How about things like Rookie, Apprentice, Technician, Guru?
I think it it would be a cool little addition to the site, but it sometimes can lead to or promote post whoring and/or lots of useless posting, since ppl would be "striving" to achieve a certain level. :?
Moderators from the "other" site?
Flint Black??? Why should some lame stock color like that be at the top? Don't you think it makes more sense to have say, oh a Pink "Si" at the top...
For what its worth....In my experience with sites,Websites that have postcount keepers cause unwanted clutter from overzealous members that need that postcount to make themselves "look" cooler w/a high post count.

I'm of the mindset that If I don't have anything intelligent to say I stay quiet.
Hence the latest post about me being a lurker... :rolleyes1:

Goddamn post whores...

Honestly I don't think it matters. What does one get from tons of posts? I think everyone knows who is posting informative and useful info vs crap. I don't think this ranking thing is necessary, but it could be fun.
Someone else said before and I also think user created ones would be cool, as long as their not inapproprate/offensive.
I could be something like "crx hoarder"
In fact, i've been thinking about going the opposite direction, and not even displaying post count.... just the 'date joined'...

If you've been around long enough to have a cool usertitle, then you know who the other cool user title recipients would be, so whats the point... its like wearing a name tag to a family reunion...

If you are so new that you'd have a lowly title, maybe you should stick around some so that you can learn who the old school guys are on the board.

Post count doesn't mean squat... its all about post QUALITY!
Some forums I've been on use a rep power thing, I think D series does this. Basically people give you recognition for helping and it shows next to the username, so in a way it's a measure of quality of posts and/or helping people.
This has been discussed before and the end consensus was to not use rank titles because it inevitably ends up creating an "US vs NEWBS" mentality. We all here for the same reasons...to learn and share experiences with other CRX enthusiasts.
High(er) post count members have a certain weight and credibility, and that's not bad. Especially in for-sale and tech threads.
But user "levels"...the name itself inspires competitiveness. What value does it add, besides the "oh look!" a postwhore!" factor?

Well said Bas. I know I might be a little biased  , but I think it's good to have post counts viewable. I definitely look at them on other forums where I'm not familiar with the members, and I use it as a gauge of how good the info is. That said, the titles aren't necessary, but they can be fun. I don't like titles like "noob" "amateur" "member" "associate" "guru" "downest", but something like CRX trim models or engines or something could be fun, but we would have to have a lot of them to keep it fun and interesting.
I just noticed that ComposiMo, fisher, and stick have user titles... NO FAIR!

I know. I've brought this up in discussion before. I didn't want to be a hypocrite. The decision was that the "Site Admin" designation was helpful to the forum (and not based on post counts or any kind of seniority). It's possible that a "Moderator" title might be helpful to the forum as well. It makes you a little more visible to the users in case they need assistance. In addition, it adds some credibility when you have to PM a user about misbehaviour.

Agreed..I have had members PM me with concerns because they know I'm a mod.
Is't this exactly what the titles are for?
Or do I have way too much common sense again?
