The EF hub puts the wheel in about the same location as the stock wheel. I don't know how thick the quick-release adapter is, but they're usually 1-2 inches I think. I don't have comparison pics, but if you think it will help I can post pics of my momo wheel on a momo EF hub.

The wheel wasn't the main focus of any of these pics, but they do show the steering column well enough. I hope they help you.
