Question: How to put tranny in neutral with no shifter??

Hey guys,
I need to move my car tonight and don't yet have my shifter. I believe I just pull the rod in the back of the tranny out and move it around until it feels like it's in neutral. Does this sound right?? I won't have much time to mess around with it or try anything after work so thought I would ask the experts.

Sounds about right. You should be able to move it in one click/thunk and out one click/thunk.
Take a thin screw driver and put it threw the hole for the bitch pin. Then pull all the way to the back of the car. The transmission should fall into 3rd gear. Now push forward gently until you feel it disengage 3rd, you are now in neutral.
Biggiddy bam! Thanks for the confirmation dudes. :D
You should be able to twist the rod back and forth (clockwise/counterclockwise) when it's in neutral. Twisting corresponds to moving the shift knob right and left, moving the rod fore/aft corresponds to moving the shift knob backwards and forwards.
Thanks guys.

After getting under there and messing with it for a little bit, I got it. Then I realized that I don't have my axles installed yet and being in neutral didn't really matter. This info should help someone though...I hope.
