I noticed my rear bumper sagging a bit and thought maybe someone bumped me in a parking lot, but when i removed the screws in the fenderwell i realized the rear bumper support is all rusted out where it attaches to the body.

I haven't taken off the rear bumper yet to see how bad it is, but i'd like to know if anyone else has had this happen before. Will try and post some pictures when i take it off tomorrow.

Rear bumper beams are notorious for rusitng out. I've not seen a rear beam without a fair amount of corrosion on it, in the east at least.

If i was to buy a new one form honda, i'd definitely give it a second coating to keep it from rusting up again. Who knows if honda will be making crx rear bumper beams in another 15 years.

Never really looked at the support intill today after someone rearended me. It rusted pretty good over the years, time for me to replace it.

Well got it all taken off. Would have been pretty simple if i didn't have to use vice grips half the time. Here's the pics.

Bad new is, i need a new bumper support. Good new is the body looks relatively rust free :)

Anyone have some suggestions on a temporary fix? I'm thinking I'll ahve to use some rope or something to keep the bumper on there till I can afford the new support.
