Who here has some good tips for replacing the heater control unit in the dash..... Mine is all cracked up something fierece... i like the front plate idea.... but I have a perfectly good one in another car that i want to swap in...

Can I just disconnect everything at the heater control? or do i have to fish cables all day long?? it would be really nice if i could replace it all from inside of the car and just unhook all my dtuff from the unit. . .
Thanks
Chris

It's actually easiest to disconnect the tension wires at the other ends. (don't disconnect them from the back of the unit). Disconnect one from under the dash on the heater core unit, and the other from the other side of the firewall on the valve that controls the coolant flow into the heater core. You may need to remove the radio in order to have enough room to maneuver the heater unit in and out without breaking it.

I recently removed my dash. One thing i found that it makes it a lot easier to remove it if you remove the dash mounting screw right under the heater controles. its the big bolt that connects the big metal thing to the floor of the car. If you remove it, it allowes you to pull it out a little more and makes getting the controls out a lot easier.
