So... my roommate has an 03 Type S with about 80k on it (yeah no joke), and it's about ready for a clutch. Acura (where he gets just about everything done) quoted him well over $1000 for the job. Of course, after he saved hundreds by doing his own brakes (it took 6 hours for him to replace rotors) he thinks it's a good idea for him (read:us, read:me), to do the clutch. He's looking at an Exedy replacement or stage 2 (trying to convince him he doesn't need that) and an ACT Streetlite or Prolite (pulling for the Streetlite too).
So... apparently most RSX owners don't do their own clutch replacements. I can't find any definitive info on doing one of these... but I'm finding hints that I'm trying to ignore saying the cradle and motor will have to be dropped out to replace the clutch. Can anyone help me on this, how it's done, time estimate, should I charge him for it  ?

I am guessing that he ment that was his level of automotive knowledge... in the fact that it took him that long to do the brakes....
unless you are sure of the deal of how hard it is... i would not do it... it sounds like you are going to have to do all of the work.... i dont think he is going to be able to comprehend a clutch swap if the brakes messed with him that bad....

its a nice idea to try to save him the money. but if you are going to get ctuck with the whole job. . you might just want to have the shop do it. .
