Rust problems?

As many of you know rust and crxes is like white on rice. When I was redoing the exterior of my car and getting it ready for paint I had the usual bad spots on the car sunroof, lower doors and 1/4s. One thing that worked for me is Por15 I used the silver formula on all of these spots and rust has not come back. I sanded the lower doors down to the maetal and applied on both sides and no problems same with sunroof and 1/4s. Check it out theres many products from them and use them step by step as the instructions say.

POR15 is some good stuff.

Did the WHOLE car in that stuff. Lasted for a good while too, but POR15 isn't good in the sun. Within a month or so, it went from nice and shiny to dull, faded, and would rub off on you if you touched it. You HAVE to topcoat it with something if it's going to stay in the sun.

Yup. They mention that in the instructions. POR-15 is formulated for strength, so they didn't put any UV additives in it. You definitely need to top coat it, otherwise it will get dull really quick.

Did you spray it on? I haven't yet used it in a spray gun. Can you tell us a little bit about the process?
I dont know what you did STU I think I remember this on crxh-p but por15 doesnt do much for you if you put it over painted metal. But it is hard as hell. I just brushed mine on and sanded it down and top coated with primer before I got the car painted.
Sanded the car down with a whizzer wheel (well, MANY wizzer wheels) and then just brushed it on. It was a ghetto solution done about a week and a half before the challange. It lasted OK through the end of the summer, but then it started getting dulled and such. It lasted pretty good except on the corners of the fenders right by the hood.
I also did my engine bay with POR15 on Silverbolt. It bonds well enough to paint, but if you go after it it can scratch off.

What exactly is a whizzer wheel, if you don't mind me asking? Does it take much of the metal away?
