Anyone (John?) know where to get one, maybe used? The drag guys I know keep telling me Kens Kustom, for like 2 grand I can get a setup with weld wheels, brakes, etc all bolt on which can use my current suspension.

Is this my best bet?

If you want it to be "independant-ish", then yea, Kens is the best bet. All of the others mount up solid to the trailing arm fulcrum point mounts, and are basically one solid bar all the way across.... if one wheel goes up, the other does to... basically, its a HUGE anti-sway bar... i've never liked the setup, cause it could make things unstable. The kens piece is at least identical to a rear beam axle that manufacturers still put in cars today... one wheel can go up while theo ther stays planted (although it will be like a solid rear axle in a truck).

What sucks, is i had the rear axle you needed when i got you that front end... now its long been sold. ah well.

Ok, back with more questions(John or whomever) regarding setting up my drag/fun car. Sorry if it seems like I have alot of questions, but hey, I do! :)

Thanks in advance

Kens axle, I was looking at your pics on Honda-Tech John, did you ever get those shock angle issues solved? Can you use that rearend with regualr CRX suspension (at least temporarily...)

In terms of those rear brakes, are they like a handbrake only setup? Or do you hook them up like standard rear brakes? My buddy is telling me to get a non boosted master cylinder and just run my front brakes..do you have any ideas on this?

You mentioned you need to remove your gas tank, thats ok because Im going to go with a custom setup, do you know of a 3 gallon cell I can fit under the hood? If not, what should I do...Ive been considering cutting out the rear floor and welding a flat plate back there, then I can fab up a fuel cell mount and box I guess.....

In terms of a fuel cell, I just need a cell, an external pump, a filter and lines right?

Im working now on getting all the wiring squared away, Im using all aftermarket gauges and such, the only non engine wirigin I need is lighting, so Ill just do that completely seperate from the original wiring.

Thanks again for all the help, Im trying to ask all these questions so I dont do something wrong. I want to get it all done ASAP, I just finished rebuilding my motor last night so I want to get teh chassis stuff all squared away so I can start driving this thing :)

Ok, after talking to more people it looks like you use some sort of hydraulic handbrake setup for the back, guess Ill have to get one of these.

Also, Im assuming that axle bolts somehow to where the trailing arm bolted up at the main bushing, maybe like abracket or something, or do you have to fab that too?

I got a roofskin off an HF to swap for my sunroof roof. Im going to need a cage and some lightweight windows too I guess. Once I figure exactly what I need Ill see what they can do for me over at Kens, since they are semi local. I can do stuff like weld in a prefabbed cage or a roofskin, but not stuff like make my own cage.

Alot to think about. I guess people run 15" rear spindle mount wheels and 13's in the front. That should be perfect.

If anyone has any other suggestions, Im all ears....

Matt, you could just email me, sorry, i don't check this forum often... lol.

"Kens axle, I was looking at your pics on Honda-Tech John, did you ever get those shock angle issues solved? Can you use that rearend with regualr CRX suspension (at least temporarily...)"

The angle was still present, but we concluded that it would be ok, and would still work fine... it would have been nice had it been perfect, but ah well.

"In terms of those rear brakes, are they like a handbrake only setup? Or do you hook them up like standard rear brakes? My buddy is telling me to get a non boosted master cylinder and just run my front brakes..do you have any ideas on this? "

Out of simplicity and cheapness, most people just run a handbrake to the rear, and their master cylinder only operating the front two like a motorcycle... however, the proper way to do it, is set the rears up in-line, using a handbrake that is designed to be hooked in-line... CNC makes these. Then, run a brake proportioning valve on the rear, so that you can limit brakes to the rear even more, since the pedal is capable of locking the rears up easier. You'll prolly want the prop valve in front of the handbrake so you aren't trying to handbrake through the prop valve to ;)

"You mentioned you need to remove your gas tank, thats ok because Im going to go with a custom setup, do you know of a 3 gallon cell I can fit under the hood? I'd run it in the front... but the problem with tha,t is that you're going to likely have to run something custom... find someone that can weld aluminum good, and you're set. Otherwise, why 3 gallon? If it is just a race car, you don't need that much.. maybe a 1 gallon, and mount it up front.

"In terms of a fuel cell, I just need a cell, an external pump, a filter and lines right? "

In order.... Cell, Fluel Filter, Fuel Pump, Fuel Filter, Fuel Rail, Fuel Pressure regulator, Fuel Filter, back to the cell....... thats if you're anal about not screwing stuff up :)

"Also, Im assuming that axle bolts somehow to where the trailing arm bolted up at the main bushing, maybe like abracket or something, or do you have to fab that too? "

The Kens axle comes with that bracket.

Anyhoo, ask away, i'll check this thread more frequently ;) You could also call me to... you should still have my cell number, but if not, PM me!
