Well after looking at shells all over the northeast, I finally decided to go back to a friend of mine and buy his 91 Si. It's another black one, with 70k (that's right!) original miles. He bought it about 10 years ago with 10k on it. Engine's never been cracked open, just put a new timing belt in this spring (first one!). The car is coming with Konis and Grond Controls with custom rates, and a Thermal catback. He's also got my extra set of Azenis RT-215 on the stock Si swirlies. Oh yeah... and a MINTY FRESH climate control!
Now I can't really afford the whole car, but I don't need everything on it. Also, I won't be keeping my CRX. My original plan was to get a bare shell and swap everything over from my car, and give away the shell. Now I think I'm going to just swap over my HX wheels with my Azenis and swap the motor and exhaust. To make up the money I will need to buy it I will either put everything (nice young A6, exhaust, wheels) onto my car and sell it, or I will just sell the parts individually. My current car needs a bit of body work, but the interior is great, with only a couple of tears in the door panels from the belts (no ripped seats). It's got Tokico Illuminas and ground controls as well. The chassis has just over 230k on it.
So what can I expect to get for selling my car with the A6, other wheels, and exhaust? I know some of you have seen it, some say it's bad, some say not so bad (I think the rust is pretty bad but not irrepairable). Would I be better off just parting out my car along with the extra parts? I hate to put another CRX in the junkyard, and I think that's what would happen to the shell if I did that. Also I don't really have a lot of space in my new place to store a lot of extra parts, so keeping all the extra stuff if I part it out isn't really an option.
I'm getting excited, ready to have a clean rust-free rex with a [soon to be tuned] SOHC VTEC! Hopefully my parents will stop making faces and jokes when I pull into the yard :?
