I found another block locally to re-build a high compression D. The guy will not break it down, so I have to get the whole package. It includes: a full A6 running motor, ported head, new 4-2-1 DC stainless header, 2 Si trannies, at least one with a newish clutch (both trannies good), Megan underdrive pulley, and all the accessories minus the dizzy. All I need is the block, so I'll be selling the rest. Does anyone have any interest in these items? It's a good deal, so I want to get it, but I really don't need anything but the block. If people are interested in the stuff that's with it I'll go get it tomorrow or thursday. I'm not posting this as a FS because I didn't pick it up yet... just want to see if I should.

I might be interested in the head, depending on price. I think mine's going bad. A question, when they did the P&P, what were they trying to accomplish? Was it just to clean everything up a little, or were they going specifically for more power in a specific application.

Thanks,

Mark

PS: Any word on the EACV?

I think they just cleaned stuff up, as the motor was being run stock with IHE. I took a picture of the thing I have that I think is the EACV, I'm waiting for my roommate to email it to me and then I'll post it.

Lemme know on the cluch if it is aftermarket and at least a step above a stock clutch "stage1" etc., and in decent shape. I am just itching to use this Clutchmasters D flywheel that I got used and it has been collecting dust for like the last 5 or 6 years, lol.
Thanks,
Caleb

You can get Exedy Stage 1 clutches on eBay for very low prices, brand new.

I went and got it all last night... it was COLD up in the Adirondacks! We took my friend's Festiva, and managed to get everything in the back! I ended up also getting the alternator, and an Si intake manifold with a hole in the plenum next to the throttle body (I don't know why). I didn't get a chance to pull it all apart, there was a nice whisky porter waiting for me at the pub...

Anyway, baker423 is coming today to get one of the transmissions and the header, the other tranny is going to my friend here. I'm going to pull the head later, clean the carbon out of the ports and check the porting job out. The intake mani is missing injectors, and the TPS is smashed, but everything else is intact. The head did not come with a valve cover (he had some powdercoated ones or something), but I have one to go with it that I sandblasted and am going to paint.

The block is wicked clean, I'm surprised there's not really any oil and grease on it, just light corrosion. Looks like my engine, kept clean enough to let it oxidize. It even came with an oh so type-JDM BLUE dipstick! I'll get this stuff all taken apart and posted up... looks like the new D build is getting started...

Haha, reminds me of the '85 Honda Civic Wagon (beige with beige interior, 5-speed) that my buddy and I chipped in on in high school (I think it was $150 apiece). It managed to pick up his 5.0L Ford small block V8 from the machine shop with plenty of room to spare (it had enough room when you folded down the back seats for an adult or two to sleep halfway comfortably). That car had a verified top speed of 90mph, reached only by flooring the gas for miles at a time on the interstate, and getting the correct combo of tailwind, downhill piece of road, and a draft from a semi. It also smoked so badly on startup that our vice-principal thanked us for fogging the parking lot for mosquitos...oh, there are plenty of stories in THAT car!
