step by step on how to check engine code

how do i check the engine codes step by step?

pull back your passenger carpet by the kick panel area to expose the ECU cover, in the middle of the cover there is a hole with a red LED light in it. Turn your ignition on, the light will blink once when you do this to show that its working, if you have any codes they will follow with a series of blinks by that same LED light. they will come in a series of either short blinks or long blinks, each short blink counts as 1, each long one counts as 10. So if you get 7 short blinks then you have a code 7, if you get 1 long one and 4 short ones then you have a code 14, if you get two long ones and 2 short ones then you have a code 22, etc.. etc...

doesnt get better than that! thanks it was perfect,now everyone that doesnt know can check this out...
Mine is flashing 16 short in a row is that normal?

No it means your fuel injector is, code 16.
does any one have the codes to post like what they all mean what should it do if you car is running good ?????
