Does anyone know how much force a stock shock can take before blowing?

This was supposed to be submitted under the 'Suspension Tech' sticky. I pressed the wrong button. Grr. Can a mod move this post for me? Thanks.

The car is currently stock.

I'd like a mild drop. I'm looking at Neuspeed Sports, Eibach Pro or Sportline Kits, and the Tein S-Tech. It looks like the spring rates for the Neuspeeds and the Teins are relatively close to OEM specs. According to your post on Suspension Tech, the Eibach Sportline's spring rates are very high and would probably blow the shock, eh Tom?

Yeah the sportlines will be too much. Why not upgrade the shocks as well? It's best to upgrade the shocks first, if not the two together (which will save you work). If you're looking for just a mild drop, check out Tokico's Illuminas bundled with their springs.

I have stock shocks with H&R Race springs on them...it rides nice, has a nice stance, but you feel the stock shock in the bounce when you drive...replacements might be in the making soon enough.
