to start off this is a pretty straight forward build, if you have rebuilt the stock motor this will be easy

with that said lets get started

Parts list
-d17 crank,rods,pistons,rings,rod bearings,oil pump,rear main seal, valve cover,dip stick, oil pan
-d16 block your choice I had a spare y8 so it was free
-d16 head again your pick I had a y7 and was free so I went with it

mill your block .030 at the LEAST by my measurements .042 can be removed to level pistons to block I has .030 removed

the block and gurlde need to be notched for clearnace!

put the pistons in

put the crank on after plastigauge the mains I reused rod bearings so no need to check them tq the gurlde

on the y8 block the d17 rear main seal matched perfectly IDK about other blocks

d17 oil pump matched perfect too like I said IDK about other blocks

Crank was machined down to accept a d16 timing gear and crank pulley, JD enlightened me that a b18 pulley will fit with no mods!

for the head I milled the y7 .040 to net a 11.3:1 CR ported it, ported a z6 manifold, VTEC intake springs all around and a delta 272 cam was used

the build in action

Nice to see someone actually doing this build, I'm interested to see how it works out.
It runs really nice I took it around the block and pulled up to about 5k and man does it pull! 1st it spins no problem :)

The only downfall in my buil would be the y7 head and it's lack of flow, but I wanted to see some no-tec action and show people that vtec is a bit over rated :)

But I'm sure a z6 head on this motor would really wake it up in the upper RPM

Lmk on any specific question about how it runs how to build it etc

Damn not bad at all! Get a Z6 head on there, you will only gain from it.
Yeah I know I know I have a z6 just chilling in the garage but the 272 cam is pretty much just the vtec lobe ground onto the y7 cam so that's about equal and with the port work I'm guessing it flows about as well as a stock z6

I just wanted to rep the no-tec for a bit :) I'll see how it works with the y7 and it's easy enough to change if it holds the engine back

if you do go z6 what cam are you planning?

Im gonna go with anything but bisi he sucks. comp, zex, crower, most likley something from web or delta again.

well i wouldn't say it suks? i've seen proven dyno gains (but it was boosted :? )
wait bisi or his cam?
both and the cam is webs you can get the profile direct from web and cheaper then bisi

his service sucks, his headers crack, his parts are over priced, his "700whp d on 93oct" has yet to run a 145ish mph ET proving it makes the power his dyno says it does

but I digress back to stroker info :)
