Swap the passenger seat for a "console?"

I have this idea. My family thinks it's crazy. Do you guys?

My passenger seat almost never carrys people. Just a breifcase, CD player, sometimes a laptop and maybe lunch. The stuff is always sliding around and often ends up in a pile in the floor.

So Im thinking: take out the seat and bolt in a "console" to hold a Mac Mini, an amp, a Palm Pilot Cradle, CDs, umbrella, and of course a cup holder.

It would made of good plywood or MDF and painted up pretty to match the interior.

Am I nuts?

No, I don't think you are crazy. But I'd do something that is easily reversible. One day you might want to carry a passenger.
Here is an option:

Good idea. I planned to keep the seat safely wrapped up in the garage in case I needed to carry a passenger. The CRX is my ride to work. (It's an hour's commute each way.) We have a little SUV and a smaller station wagon for hauling the family. Driving a single seater would discourage my co-workers from inviting themselves to lunch.

It seems like the seat would be easy to take out and replace. Does anyone know if that's true?

4 bolts and it's out. No sweat.
You could always have the console bolt in using the seat bolt holes...
When I brok the back of the driver seat in my daytona, I move the passenger seat over and left the passenger side empty. It was great, lots more room. And there were two small jump seats in the back, with the one seat gone there was lots of leg room for the one in the back.

So if I were you, I'd look into the rear seat mod--that was you could have your console and have a decent seat for the rare times you have a passenger.

And of course you're nuts, you have a crx. Comes with the territory.

Sounds like it could be very useful to you. Kind of like a businessmans caddy to hold all of the essential items.
To bolt it down I would use the exisiting mounting points for the seats, which would make it easily removable in case you did need to use your seat again.
