Mar 19th post...I guess no meet?
To be honest, the "CRX only" scene has been dead the last couple years. Michelle Skibitzki, Ricky Crow et al organized several good meets from 1999-2002ish. Then they started sucking. A couple reasons I wanted to quit going...
1. The "spring" meet didn't happen until typically the end of May. That's more like a summer meet. And standing around in a parking lot, or even park(with no real trees), in the Texas summer heat for half a day is asking for misery. The justification for this was to let students who called Texas home, but were away for school, participate. My response to that is what about the CRX owners/students that were here for school but went home to somewhere else for the summer? Central Texas is home to several universities....this just didn't make any sense. Meets should have been held sometime in March.
2. Low turnout, the same few faces. The same few people doing all the work.
3. Stagnation. Same meet format everytime. A few innovations were added but too little too late.
4. Level of car quality steadily dropped. And to a certain degree, the "quality" of owner.
I don't think there's been any kind of meet for over a year now.
So lets start small. I think a good format would be to arrange a group dinner someplace, hit the drag strip in Killeen or San Antonio and then roll to wherever the Saturday night hot spot currently is (Vans?).
