the dream...

Well guys... i've decided the route i'm going motor wise...
its been a dream, for a while now, but since i had a Special Edition i decided against it, as it requires some unmodifiable changes...

but then i think about it, unless i die in some horrific accident, i will not be parting with this car (yes, this includes when i become a bum on the street, i will beg out of my crx if i have to!). So i figured whatever i do to it, i will live with...

the decision is the K20A2... (Yes, the RSX Type-S motor) its not going to be simple, cheap, or quickly done...

but throughout the next year, i will be collecting parts and slowly making my dream a reality...

opinions guys...?
i'm not trying to ruin a masterpiece... just add to its greatness...

Mixed emotions for me. On one side, that engine in a CRX is already rare. And you'd probably be the only SE owner with that engine. Ultimate rareness! And then on the other side, some people will say you're ruining your SE. But I say do what you want to do. Like you said, you're keeping it forever so it's yours to do what you want with it. Honestly, I say go for it! And log it, take pictures, write details, and post them here. Don't let anyone talk you out of what you want to do.
just remember crx's are a dime a dozen when compared to a SE.

on the K swap, good luck. I thought about it but my wallet and the time frame i gave myself do not aggree. i would love a k series crx but ive decide h22 for now.
If you were anywhere near me, i'd kick you in the face for having this project in mind.

do that to a HF,DX, SI but not to a SE !!!!
crxfisher... you seem to better understand how i feel about it...
but then synoptic makes a good point aswell.

sigh, if only someone had a cheap crx shell donated to the cause

haha jokes aside though, if i were to do it, i would log every moment... from the time i strip the engine bay, to the interior, to all the bodywork done, dampening the entire car (sound wise), all the refitting of the interior, and then finally the whole k20 swap from beginning to end...

and the plan is to keep the body as stock as possible... stock ride height, I'm going to upgrade to the 5 Lug Type R with DC2 Suspension as well...

all dreams... i figure i live once...
Hmmm... If you can afford to do a K20 swap, what's an extra couple thousand to get a guinea pig CRX to do this project on? You know how I feel about this sort of extensive modification on an SE. If it's a bolt-on, I say go for it. B-series engines can make plenty of power too, and you don't even have to dent the framerail if you get a shorter alternator belt.

If your ultimate dream is a K20, go for it. Life is short and we don't get to take these tangible items with us when we die. However, for the sake of it's rareness, please consider doing the swap on a less rare chassis.
Well, i can understand why everyone is all up in arms about a swap thats unreversiable... but who would i reverse it for?
furthermore, what are my real options...

getting another car is out of the question, i'm lucky enough to have one... and due to insurance purposes, space, and many other factors (my father)... that will that never be a reality.

doing another swap... yes, i've sat and thought about this option the most i guess... the 3 Stage Vtec D15B would be the choice, except for the fact that if i go this route, i'll never have what i really want... everytime i press on the pedal, i won't feel what i want... everytime i pop that hood i won't see what i want...
so why do it then?

i'm not looking for a beast, i don't want all the power in the world... i guess crxfisher really hit on it

I want to build a car that is the car i love (my one n only crx SE), that is quiet (hence the reason i will be dampening the full engine bay and interior of the car) and operates efficiently (it pushes about double the power of the stock motor, and still holds about the same MPG).

Lets just say, i'm trying to create my version of a luxury car... :)

I do know someone.

2500$ Firm, it's in quebec, not too far from Ontario.
Go to hawksebury, go to quebec from there, take the 50 and you are there.
Ouch! $2500?
$2500 for just a shell??? There must be something very very special about this shell. I wouldn't normally pay more than $500 for a good condition CRX shell.
i think toxic has a shell hes tryin to unload. if i had a way to get it home i would buy it for a winter beater.

My sentiments exactly...
Well, I say whatever route you're going, good luck! I'll be putting a B16 in my SE next summer, but I'll also be putting the stock engine and transmission in storage. Regardless, take pictures and document the experience!

I was out in the yard and heard something the other day...... .here it was the black crx..... it was moaning and groaning about not having an engine..... every now and then when i am in the garage wrenching on that new b18 it gets excited ..... but deep down it knows that it is not for it.... . .it has jealousy for the red crx cuz it knows that it is getting and engine.... plus all of the other crx's have engines.... all which are swaps except for the white car....... so yeah i have a shell for sale.... . 500 firm.... some dents here and there.. . . . but it is one of the nicest i have ever seen on the underside.......

its something that you could throw a lot of money into and not feel bad cuz your car is rusting.......
only problem is that i am in Pa.

let me know. .. i would like to see it go to a good home.. .

Ouch....that one hurt...

I love my Si...

edit- Your SE should be honored to have a nice beefy engine put in it. I think it being so rare, and maybe having a hard life of not finding others like himself--he should deserve this!
