Well today the HF got put on the road, tags and insurance...

I can very well tell this thing hasnt seen the road since 2002.
I didnt have heat till a few minutes ago when I found the pics that was posted in baker_jeff's thread when he had a heating issue with his DX. I have heat now lol...

I turned the fan on this morning and it kinda sounded like it was having a hard time, as I left bluefield to get to work, I turned it on because I was freezing and it started to whine, I was like...oh uh. And then I hear a loud "click" and "whiiiiirrrr......" and then I get hit in the face with dust, crud and styrofoam??....little bits came out of the dash LOL...

When I was trying to get it to start after getting the fuel line leak down to a drip so I could get it to a garage, it acted like it was firing on 1 cylinder...I pulled the plugs and #'s 4,3, and 1 were drowned in oil.... :rolleyes1: Hmm wonder why no sparky? :x I put some old d16y7 plugs in to see if it would start....and it did first try. About time! started, and idle exactly it was sopposed to, no codes or anything....took it to a garage to get a section of the fuel line next to the tank replaced and told them to change the oil while they was at it. This was yesterday BTW.

I dont like how they cut the flare off the hard line, and spliced in a piece of rubber hose....(at least they used actual fuel line hose, but Im somewhat protective over this car) So Im going to get a new OEM line from the tank back to where its sopposed to be. Grrrr....

Im getting ready to leave work and its sitting out back idleing, heating up I hope...

I can alrdy tell Im going to be replacing the alt belt,(sweaking) and the starter...it got cold and it almost wouldnt turn the car over.

Well, this car is a granny and I have to make it young again, Im going to treat her to the best of all my 89si&90si parts including a d16a6 with 112k on it in the spring. The shift light is annoying! :p

Thus is my HF experience so far....Im throughly enjoying it actualy, it might be slow, but its defintly wants to be more nimble than my 89 si.

Laterz, Im going to drive my CRX to its new home...

Might be a mouse built a nest in the blower. I had that happen, I'm still trying to get rid of the smell (if that's the case, you probably won't notice the smell until summer when it's nice and humid).

You can get out a lot of really terrible smells using an open container of vinegar. Just get like a plastic crisco tub, seal it up when you're driving, and when you're not, leave it open in the car. This will take care of alot, but if you have dead animal parts in your HVAC you might have a bit of trouble getting the vinegar to make that better ;)

Sounds like a nice trick to try.

What happened to me was that the blower sounded like it had a leaf stuck in it. That got worse with time, and then one day I turned the fan on high to try to clear it, and it got stuck. For a long while I just didn't use the fan (I could get some cold air by cracking the sunroof and driving fast). Eventually I had the shop check it out (since I couldn't get the damn thing out), and they gave me back a half gallon bag full of mouse nest they'd removed.

The smell didn't bother me much, and I put some coffee beans in a net bag and keep that under the console to help cover it. But I bought some of this product called urine away (for cat and dog pee), and sprayed that into the intakes while the fan was running hard. That seems to have cleared it up, but I won't know for sure until summer.....

An HF has a built in shift light? I must know how this is? We don't HF's up here so I have never really worked....let alone seen them before. I would really love to own an HF for a daily and an Si for a weekend warrior.

I will be putting black interior in the front and stripping the back hatch section a bit, so Ill get to find whatever has lived in it or whats currently dead in it lol... I bought it for the shell as its in pretty good shape, 10x better than my 89 si (esp after I slid it into a guardrail)...

Well, don't forget to check _inside_ the air system!

Yep, yellow shift lights. I couldn't find a pic of one on, but you can see the white outlined light in this pic:

The shift light annoys me, wants me to shift into 5th when its at 1500rpm..... :rolleyes1: I think its just a max gasmilage thing...

Well, 190miles on it and its doing good, Ive got to put some new plugs in it and replace the starter and it should be fine. If things work out with DoitDubs, I may be taking it to indiana for its next motor. Details later...

I also need to fix the fuel level sender, I think it got bent and I filled it up and show only 1/4 a tank.....but I put like $15 bucks in it...

:edit::

^...Jesus, I need to check myself!

Yeah, I work at the econo lodge on cumberland Rd.
What do you drive?
okay first of all i know that it is "winter" and it actually snows in virginia but considering where you are posting what kind of question is what do you drive??? (kidding)

and as for above i have heard that a shallow open dish of fresh ground unused coffee under each seat can work wonders for smells since coffee is extremely good at sucking up odors, although i would still look into taking apart the vent system and giving it a good cleaning.

as for the shift light i live in california but i think my car was origionally bought from nebraska so it has the shift light and it does give suprizingly good gas mileage although its hard to get most anywhere really fast doing so.

LOL..yeah something like that.
It does make a good crusing car, but I would like to at least have my Si transmission....
:rolleyes1:
I put the exhaust off my 89si on the HF today..headers and all..I think its best upgrade you can do to the poor 8-valve motor lol. Seems to pull a bit more on hills heh....but at least now it will pass inpection. Its also much quieter than a rusted out HF muffler.

BTW Ive put about 700miles on this sucker, only thing Im concerned about is that the valves sound like they are working overtime....it sounds REALLY bad if you attempt to rev the piss out of it (Ive done it a few times just to see what would happen, nothing much LOL) . Doesnt smoke or anything though.

This weekend it gets a Si tilting steering column,(?) I didnt get to it today as the exhaust on both the 89si and HF were being stubbern.
