So what kinds of tastey, or not so tastey animals have you tried? What do you all enjoy the most?

I've had:

Land:

Deer
Cow
Buffalo
Bear
Antelope
Elk
Dog (I think)
Duck
Chicken
Pig
Turkey

Water:

Squid
Lobster
Shrimp
Fish
Clams... in clam chowder only

Weirdest I would say were the buffalo balls. Not really bad tasting but not something I want to eat again. They really cook down from huge to not much at all.

Most of the land animals above. Don't like seafood.

I would like to add the category Air:
Goose
Pigeon/Dove
Quail
Partridge
Fesant (spelling?) (on second thought it might be flightless)

Strangest was deep fried goat penis. I thought it was baked banana. That traumatised me for life. And it wasn't even any good.

i think it's pheasant...?

I want to try aligator and shark sometime. How was the rat???

So far I'd say antelope is the best, right up there with elk. You can never pass on a fat juicy medium rare steak though, mmmmmmmm.

Yeah, I think eel is a fish, I've had that before in sushi. Not much of a fan of sushi.

Deer is delic. Unfortunatly no one else besides me in the family hunts, so I dont get to eat it as much as id like.

The weirdest thing Ive ate..probably these breaded turkey nuts. Tasted like chicken but..I doubt id eat em again simply for the fact: They are testicles.

Dren, a tip- the shark occasionally sold in supermarkets is not what you want. I caught a 3-foot sand shark in the Atlantic while deepsea fishing about 7 years back and it was great marinated in a butter sauce on the grill. The supermarket variety of shark is generally cut from larger, mature, and tougher animals and is not really that good (you'll have no clue as to type of shark). I quit buying it.

Caught a couple of 24-30" Bluefish (a very aggressive fighter on the hook) two years ago off Ocean City, MD. We had been told that they were very oily-tasting, but after flushing the fillets for two days in fresh water, and marinating them in butter on a grill, they were quite good (about 8-10 servings worth).

Tried buffalo and alligator jerky. Not bad. The alligator was like tough chicken.

Pheasant tops everything I've tried. Followed by deer then yellow bass. All of which have to be prepared by me or my mom 'cause the only person who can hook it up better than me is her.

Raw meat: Hamberger, chicken, shrimp, tuna, salmon, and other fishes.
Raw chicken!? Christ, are you kidding me?! You ate that without worrying at all about salmonella (present in the majority of uncooked chicken)? You're lucky if you weren't glued to the toilet for a week.

Once it was on purpose, raw Popeys chicken nuggets, on a dare.
Second time was an accident. It was a chicken cordon bleu that I thought was precooked. I thawed it and ate it.
If I were you I would try not to do that again...your luck will only hold out for so long.

I think Coz was in Iraq. Sounds like eating some raw chicken is pretty low on his "it'll kill you" scale!
I wouldn't worry about dying from salmonella, but it WILL give you a nasty case of the ****s for days.

Most persons infected with Salmonella develop diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps 6 to 72 hours after infection. In most cases, the illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days - most affected persons recover without treatment. However, in some persons the diarrhea may be so severe that the patient needs to be hospitalized.
Sounds like something I would personally try to avoid, I'd rather not **** my colon out for a week.

When I was in Romania last year I ate tripe for the first time and brain. I had a lot of organ meats, I was at a restaurant where I ordered simply "pork" and got over a kilo of different pig parts, fresh killed on the attached farm, prepared all different ways, with tripe soup to start. Brain was ok, but I really like tripe and I've been eating it since.

Now I know it's not meat, but who likes blood pudding (blood sausage, black sausage, whatever you call it) for breakfast? Man that is some good stuff.

^I've wanted to try blood pudding but don't know where to get it.

I forgot I've had goat and lamb. Mutton stew in Ireland is awesome.

I think I've had turkey heart before, my mom puts all of the giblet stuff in the dressing.

I ate some ants before because they were crawling all over some Cadbury eggs I was eating. I was drunk...

I have also had White Castle. I consider this its own meat. :)
