hey guys i was thinking about getting CRX. a guy in town is selling his for $1,500. i dorve it and it pulled really hard and shifted great the car handled very well and there was not rust or leaking in the car. the car does have some minor things that need to be done to it. the owner says it needs a new turn signal switch, the left front brake caliper needs to be replaced, the windshiled is cracked and one fo the motor mounts needs to be replaced. the car was an auto and then swaped for a 5 speed. i think its a frea deal for a 90 CRX SI with 200,000 miles but what do u guys think i currently have a 2000 cavi with most bolt ons and the car is paid for but im not sure if i should get the CRX or just keep the cavi.

If it was an auto, it's not an Si. What motor was swapped in? Do you have any pics of it? It's really hard to tell you if the price is good without more details, also it makes a difference where you live. Rust free in TX or FL is a lot different than in the northeast or Canada.

Hate to break it to you, but is has been swapped.
Does the car have a FACTORY power sunroof, does the VIN have "ED9" in it, does it have black/grey interior? If you answered "NO" to any or all of those questions, it is NOT an original Si.

Maybe the cluster is just from an automatic DX? Post the VIN, or the factory sunroof is a dead giveaway.
Read more....not just the cluster

You're the one confused here. I'm sure Ryan read the whole thread. All we know about this car is that it has a D16A6 and an auto cluster. cruzstyle said it was swapped to manual, and he also said it's an Si, but those are mutually exclusive, so we can't depend on either. An auto cluster would be a cheap replacement if somebody with an Si needed one, and then the next owner would obviously think it was swapped.

How am i confused? :?:
By the sounds of it, and the way i am reading into it, it sounds like the guy selling it Took an auto Dx, converted to 5speed, left the auto cluster in, threw an a6 in there, and called it an "Si".
Without pics or VIN, we don't know for sure but my money is on that theory.

Doesn't sound like a CRX I'd want to own. I'd wait and find an Si somehow. Or go get a loan and buy a Yaris.
yeah, sounds like the rex has been cobbled up. I'd keep searching, there is a better one out there, you just need patience.

isn't the yaris a toyota? that's like stabbing a honda lover in the back! okay, that's just MY opinion.

I don't think you're confused, but I did read the whole thread, and I was just throwing out a "maybe". It's either an Si or an auto-to-manual swap, but not both. So yeah, your theory is one possibility, and the other is that it is a real Si with a DX cluster that made the guy think it was an auto-to-manual car. Someone could just as easily say "read the whole thread" and pointed out that he claimed it was an Si to refute your theory...but at least one of those things is incorrect, so they don't really mean anything. That's why I said the same thing as you -- a VIN (or the presence of a stock sunroof) would clear things up.

Ahhh i now see what you are saying.

Basically either the seller, the buyer or both have no idea what they are talking about.

I voted "no", just because we can't get the REAL story about the car.

In hindsight I realize it woulda been funier if I said "take out a loan and buy a Yugo" but I guess they don't make them anymore...
