So obviously an AEM or Skunk2 is a tried and true cam gear. but what do you all think about this one here for half the price:

It looks of similar design, uses 5 bolts, and is plenty strong if actually machined from billet 7075 aluminum. I'm a little concerned about the timing mar being accurate though.

Ya thread jack but ya what do you guys think about skunk2 parts. I was looking at there parts on the web page and there really expensive and would you actually pay for that. i looked around for sales on HT and its still expensive to buy skunk2 stuff. And what are the hp gains looking like with those prices.

depends on the part...they make an awesome shift knob (no joke), and solid cams and valvetrain....but some of the stuff just isnt worth it

Even companies like skunk2 etc cut corners. They make some crappy products that they charge just as dearly for as their better products. (Covering overhead)

I've seen more cheap gears slip than I would like to. I've also seen a skunk2 camgear break clean off.
I have a set of forged/billet hayame camgears that are -tough-. (and bling)
More bolts is better. That's about all the advice I can give you.

Jmart, stick with the AEM, especially on the Y8 head. I've heard that a lot of gears aren't keyed right for the Y8 head. I don't think you should cheap out on parts ever, but we aren't talking about a ram intake or something here, if that thing breaks it's the end of your motor.
