Well it only took me a week to figure it out, but the rebuilt engine I got did'nt have the little retaining washer on the outside of the crankshaft gear for the timing pulley. There was one on the inside, but I thought it was just a spacer until I really looked at it. At least it didn't cause any engine damage!

whatya know? it was what I said it was (well I called them "shims") in your earlier post, and that was a couple days ago.
