Ok, so me and my friend are having trouble loosening this damned bolt. We're planning to switch out the valvetrain on his GSR teg (I know its not concerning a rex, but I like this forum!), and we were making great progress removing all the necessary things until we got to this bolt. We've tried loosening the bolt from the top and the bottom yet it seems as though we can't get enough leverage to get the darn bolt loose. So far all I can think of is removing all the accessory belts and crank pulley and try to remove the bottom plastic cover to see if it might help. Any other ideas? Is it possible to slip the timing belt off the cams w/o even loosening the tensioner bolt or is that just a bad idea?

well I think the torque for that bolt is 33 ft lbs so it should come loose fairly easily. if you are using a short wrench / ratchet, I say make room for a larger drive size or put a small pipe or something over it for more leverage. When I did my T belt on my rex I already had room to get at it, maybe you just need more room.

If you just want to slide the belt off, turning the engine a little at the crank pulley should help.
