Traction issues....

So I put on my drag radials today becuase i was having alot of trouble driving on my beat old Kumho Supra 711s on my winter wheels. It helped quite a bit, but not enough.

The problem im having is if i give the car full throttle in any gear less then 3rd it just spins the tires. In 3rd gear it lights up the tires after about 5k rpm, resulting in hundreds of feet of burnt rubber on the road.

Should i be looking into some sort of gear dependent boost control? bigger fron tires?

AWD ;)

I know with the cobalt guys, most of them limit boost in certain gears through the PCM, but for you it's not that easy

Boost by gear sounds like the best route, something like this:

Yes you can. I am going to get a set myself. We suffer from the same affliction. IDK on the offset, I need to take measurements. I am gonna run a 5" wide rim though for max contact. It is gonna stick out, but will only be used drag racing.
longer gears could help. like that LS tranny you mentioned.
i actually will have the ability to do gear dependend boost control very soon through my engine management system.

maybe between that and some better tires ill be in good shape.

I have alot of room up front, due to my front end being 3" wider then stock, i guess i would run like a +25 or +30 offset wheel.

I wonder if a smaller wheel with a smaller offset would clear my brakes......im really liking the slicks approach to racing.

im also considering trying out my spare LS tranny in swap fro my GSR one

you ar egoing to use a 5" wide rim? i would theink you would need an 8 or something, but im no expert on drag wheels.

would 24x9 slicks even mount on a 5" wide wheel?

right now i have 205/50/14's BFG Drag Radials on del sol si 5.5" wide wheels. but i dont have my new brakes on yet.

so Matt what do you have turbo'd? I met this guy with 600whp in a civic his daily driver. I do not know how he drives it on the street! (was being tuned at Groundzero on Portland)

I've got an LS Tranny, I'll trade :)
i kind of have the same problem too....only mine is in Forza :p the only way i can think of (with mine, that is, in real life it would probably be terrable) is having a really nasty 100% locking diff, and HF styled gears :( this game says its supposed to be like a simulator (as in if you do X Y and Z in the game it should still translate to real life) but i dont know...

the only solution I found was
255-40-16 slicks
on the street tires you just have to roll on the throtle or get a dual stage BC
