I'm looking for the code and the transmission with the tallest gears that bolts to a B18A1. I want more top speed out of my engine and not so close gearing. I currently have a S1 tranny. Which is a better tranny for what i'm looking for?

thats gonna be about the longest geared tranny you are going to find...thats a 90-93 LS tranny.

teh S80 may be slightly longer, but is hydraulic....

I was hoping you had a close ratio one. .. .I was going to say. . . . most of the ppl here would prob make you a nice trade for it if you did for there ls units. .. .

i think its more the torque of the ls over your stock D that gets it revvin up quicker... thinking that the gears are short. . . .I thought the same thing. . . and then read the gearing.... and was surprized to see that it was pretty tall compared to how it felt. ..

i hate being over 3 g's in 5th to get to 70MPH. I drive for a dealership also so i get to drive different cars. Most are only at 2 g's when at 80MPH! Thats what i'm tryin to get to.

get some bigger front tires. . . . .. cheap east solution. . . . . just remember what you add to the top end is going to be subtracted from the bottome ned.

You can also swap out 5th gear for the LS set. That would give you both worlds.

You have a swapped Honda, throwing around engine and transmission codes and have no idea that you can't mix and match between engine series?
As a general and first rule of thumb, d series parts will not work with the b series.

They are very different from one another.

I've seen adapter plates made to swap trannies around.
Most of them for H-series tho.

H2B is the only one I've ever seen.

Yes exactly. But I can't remember the manufacturer.
Aparently, they thought that the shorter D-series trannies held up to high power output better, and the housings didn't fail as much.

Any of you guys have a compatible spare cable tranny then?? Think mine is cracked on the housing.
