This might be a repost, but I found it very insightful. It is long 30min. and there is some language involved so don't watch it at work. I figured with the nasty turn some other threads have taken into drug talks, I should start one about it. It has actually had an effect on my views, and agree with it. I've always thought Marijuana should be legal, but the way it shows what a failure the War on Drugs is, it appears to be Prohibition alll over again. Enjoy please share your comments.

We've had a lengthy discussion already.
Some people won't "see" even if it hit them in the face. You won't change their minds no matter what you do.

I agree, almost completely. You won't get alot of arguments from me.
I don't think drugs should be completely legal. But I think liberalization would free up alot of resources.
It's fine to drink. Just not to drink and drive. Good example.

Penn and Teller ROCK.
And they make painful and obvious points. They know to put the finger exactly where it hurts.

They have 4 seasons of awesome episodes. This one is a gem. Just like the sex one.
I thought you were the one saying they should all be locked away...

You thought wrong.

You suggested we started dealing out dope like candy to felon drug users.
You know, the murder, pillage, rape, waaagh, kind.
I'd rather see them locked up, than littering the streets with needles, busting in car windows, pickpocketing...and so on, and so forth.

Penn and Teller are referring you the sole act of USING drugs.
If YOU decide to use drugs, on your own time, in your own house, I have no problems with this. As long as it does not hinder me in any way.
I would not have any problems with this.

 I was just replying to your "You thought wrong" when you added the other two paragraphs.

I guess I misinterpreted what you said in the other thread:

No, in our cells they receive wellfare, and cable TV.

But yes. I thing the turn around on jails is better than on free heroin programs. And to tell the godhonest truth, one more or less dead junkie is not really very high on my priority list.

I really like the idea of private prisons and forced labor. Let them stamp lisence plates, or clean out garbage trucks to earn their own incarceration.
I still disagree with you, though. It seems like retribution for the symptoms instead of addressing the underlying problem.
