This car is local to me and seems to be a very sweet deal:
The good: Runs very strong and gets amazing gas mileage. The body on the car is in great shape for the car being 15 almost 16 years old. There is NO rust. Has a JDM D15b VTEC which pulls very nicely. Due to the cars light frame it holds its own. The tires are like new and the motor has really been taken car of with oil changes every 3k miles. The interior is in good shape, but there is the tear on the drivers side bolster. Those are also HX wheels on the car powdercoated black. They go with the car great! I also just pulled the Invidia Exhaust off of the car but if you buy the car I'll throw it in.

The bad: Small place on the hood where there was a rock chip thats grown some (around the size of a nickle). It needs a new upper ball joint which I plan on replacing very soon. And there is a slight grind into 3rd occasionally on the transmission.

This is a great crx and several people on this board can vouch for the car. The bottom line that I could take for the car though is $3500. Its an amazing car. Let me know something man!

3500 for a rust free CRX? Sounds fair to me. The D15B VTEC is a great motor for a CRX. Trust me, I have one! :D

As far as the grind... it's just an excuse to spend a little bit on a hybrid transmission! In my opinion though that degrades the value a little. I'd offer like 2800$ personally.

on that year model, it would mean replacing the whole upper control arm, but its not a big deal at all.

FWIW, my crx was the mintest one I'd ever seen in person, and I gladly forked over $3200 for it, even with a blown cv joint.

EDIT: you guys that are saying to give him less have you tried to find a clean si in KY?

Chris. I hate to do this to you but I'm not going to be able to part with the car after all. Monitary issues have come up and I'm just going to need to hold on to the car for a while. I'll be sure to notify you before anyone else. Once again, I'm sorry.

Really? :?

There are two HF's for sale here for less than $1500. And we don't have rust out here in ther desert.

Honda Civic CRX-HF 1988 - $1250
White with blue interior.
Approx. 324K miles, 146K on rebuilt engine. A/C, radio/cassette deck, right side mirror.
Single owner, mechanically well-maintained, have all records.
Smog tested (passed, great results) and last serviced on 11/11/2006.
Excellent gas mileage, great commuter car.
Dent in front left quarter panel and linear dent in right rear quarter panel.
88 Honda CRX HF - $1500
212k on the chassis, swapped newer 91 dx engine with 120k. Recent major tune-up; water pump, timing belt, battery, drive belts, cv axle, spark plugs, cap/rotor, ignition wires, new blower motor, and new tires. Has si tail-lights, sylvania silver star headlights. cd player with 4 new speakers. runs awesome...picked up another project must sell this one.
Look at the mileage on those things! 212k and a whopping 324k miles, both of them with engine swaps with over 100k miles -- so you get a very high mileage car with old HF and DX swaps. I don't even want to know why the guy bothered to put a DX engine in an HF. They may not have rust, but one of them describes some serious dents. I'll pay quite a bit more for a good looking car with a decent engine swap...these are just gas-mileage commuter cars, and they probably look like they've been driven to hell and back.

they probably have been too, anyway, the guy called while I was out and wanted me to call back, so this may mean he is considering my offer.

Edit: just checked my mailbox, found this:
I honestly just don't know. I was gonna sell this and buy a DSM but I started thinking rationally about how I need a car that is going to be dependable and not a money pit, which is exactly what I have right now and I just can't see me getting rid of it unless I can find something just as good. Make me an offer I can't refuse though and I just might have to start looking for a reliable beater.

Well guys im cautiously optimistic. He returned my phone call and we didnt really talk any more numbers, but he does seem to be willing to part with it as long as he can find a reliable car to replace it with. He says the exhaust has been replaced with stock and the radio antenna has been shaved. Also says its lowered on either KYBs or teins.
Once again reiterrated that 3500 is as low as he can go.

EDIT: he says it has a jdm d15 vtec, and my dad(the person who ultimately gets to decided here), was asking me about parts for it. It uses the same parts as the US spec d15, right? Thanks for your help guys, I'm very excited that I may finally be getting a crx!

Do you guys have any diagrams on the upper ball joint?
I know there was an online helms manual somewhere but I can't seem to find it. Does anyone have it? Thanks guys.
