Nothing but the best for my y-49 baby!
Tell me about the stuff...Jeff said:I am an Amsoil man. I use their oil, air filters and oil filters. Amazing stuff. I am a reseller too.
Fram uses cardboard endcaps in their filters, these endcaps can deteriorate over time and can lead to serious engine damage(think what cardboard could do if you get enough of it clogged into your oil pump). Ive seen a motorcraft sales rep come into my work and take 2 filters right off the shelf(I work in a parts store) 1 fram and one motorcraft, and cut the housing off with a dremel, exposing the insides of both filters. The motorcraft uses metal endcaps, the fram uses cardboard. Whether or not other cheap filters use this same design is unknown, but I wouldnt be one bit surprised. But, needless to say Id sooner put a used oil filter on my rex than I would a fram. Id sooner spend a little money on a quality filter than I would spending the money to replace a motor.shorte said:Mobil 1 or valvoline synthetic, filter depends sometimes.
Can someone tell me what's the big bad deal on fram filters? I remember them being one of the best back in my muscle car days
