When is a flywheel not resurfaceable

I am swapping engine and with the engine out I am changing the clutch. I want to get the flywheel resurfaced but I don't know how much life is left on it. It has 490k miles on it but the previous owner drove mostly on the highway. There is a fairly worn down but i don't know how far it can be worn down till it is no longer good. So what I am asking is how far can the sirface of the flywheel be resurfaced down to or how to know how much life is left in my flywheel.

I think the only way to know for sure is to take it to a machine shop. It's tough to answer a vague question like "how much can it be worn down," especially with no pics.
I didn't know if there was some kind of wear indicator or measurement that could be taken. I don't think it will show in pictures. I guess I will just see what the machine shop says.
I believe most machine shops can look up a spec on how thick it should be.
I don't know that spec personally..
My brother has the flywheel and will be taking it to a machine shop to have it resurfaced on Monday.
If it were me, I'd just replace it while it's out. 490k is a lot of miles...I'd retire it while it's out.

good point, there's no better time to upgrade. The labor for installing a flywheel is fairly extensive.

And honestly, a lightened flywheels is one of my favorite mods.
This is going to go on my daily driver beater civic so I don't really care to have a lightweight flywheel.
Justin, how much life do you think the flywheel that was on the engone you sold me has left? The one I have to use(I'm using a 90 tranny) is worn deeper than the one you sold me.
