windshield antenna?

I'm having some rust repair done in about a month or two. And I'm probably going to be shaving the roof-mounted rear windshield washer, and the antenna while that's being done.

So my dilemma is finding another antenna for the radio that will work. I don't want an external antenna, VW-style or otherwise. I really want to find an antenna that I can mount along the top of the windshield on the inside, in much the way that a lot of new cars have it in the rear windshield. But, I've had no luck finding an aftermarket antenna like that anywhere on the internet, and the other thing I'm considering is just using some wire and taping it to the windshield behind the tint bar.

Any ideas?

Ive heard of people putting Toyota Altezza antennas on their rexs.
I wonder if it's possible to do an antenna that is like a defroster line. I've seen cars with antennas that are on or in the windshield like that. Maybe there's some kits out there that would allow you to apply one to the windshield.
I would say do some research on home made antennas or small wire antennas and fab a connection for the radio then see if the small guage wire works. Work with different lengths and guage sizes. Small wire doesnt cost much and looking on the net to see how antennas are put together isnt much trouble. Try that and see if it works. If it does you can always hide small guage wire inside the plastic housing around the hatch.

If not look into how other up-to-date car antennas are made. Then go from there.
A guy I work with is big into hot rods. he suggested to me to use a hidden antenna system that alot of hot rodders use. it just mounts up under the dash and he said it works as well as a external mounted one does. He showed me one in his hot rod accessory book and it was about $30 I think.
Well, I have the same problem. My antenna is shaved, and I can't find any of the under dash antennas. If anyone can find one, or lead me in the right direction, let me know. My search has turned up nothing...

If its a hot-rod accesory book... try at NAPA, or Lordco or any parts place that have after-market catalogues. Since those guys deal in parts, and many of them love hot-rods... they may be able to point you in the right direction better than a bunch of import tuners could :p

i love the idea of shaving the antenna and that dumb rear window washer nozzle off. i never use the rear window washer thing, and mine leaks, damnit! I think a CRX with those shaved would look way better. Plus, no chance of leaking :)

And then you can reroute the rear sprayer to the front of your car to spray the condenser/radiator/intercooler.

or mount it to spray the car next to you, if they are being idiots.
