I have to say that i never expected in three years of owning a crx, to have already been on my third tranny! lol, but i did start out with a dx trans which slowly developed a classic case of the "chatter box". After that i upgraded to an si trans that shifted like magic until i was downshifting after a routine speed check (which went well). When i downshifted into second my trans learned to play a tune called clunk, rattle and grind! I pulled over to the side of the road and it was stuck in second. I had to start off in second and throw it out without pushing the clutch in to get it out. After that it shifted fine, but first gear was gone... i couldnt get it in no matter how hard i pushed the shifter. This gave me a few fun filled months of starting in second every time i wanted to go from a red light or stop sign. So here i am with the third tranny, which is another si and it has been slick as soap on a tile floor. Just prayin it stays this way for a while! :rolleyes1:

Judging by the subject line, I thought this was gonna be one of those "...I SWEAR I thought it was a chick, until I reached down..." stories.

hcrx333,

Do you have a habit of slamming gears? Those synchros need at least a split second to work, they're not instantaneous. If you are slamming gears up or downshifting, you will soon be on your 4th tranny.
