I have a d16a6 right now in my 88 crx si. I bought two y8's that came with intake mani and throttle bodies. I am swapping the vtec head onto my a6 and was wondering, is there any benefit to swapping on the y8 intake. If it gives me one horspower i dont care, it isnt worth the time, but just want to know. I am going to run a .42/.48 t3 snail on it once it is together. I have heard (i think) that a b-series throttle body will bolt onto the y8 mani. I am just trying to figure out why some have done it. If i put on a B-series throttle body that is port matched, will it even be noticeable? Sorry for all the noob questions, just starting my first car build and wanting to do it right. (I am a D-series lover for now because of $ and dont want to be a bandwagon jumper) Thanks everyone for helpin me out. I have just made the move from hater tech aka honda-tech. i am hoping i dont get flamed here like i prob would on there. Also, sorry about the title, probably confusing.

I don't know the exact gain, but past discussions have reached the conclusion that the Y8 IM is superior. I've seen Y8 IM swaps on otherwise stock A6's, so it must be good for something noticeable.

You're inevitably removing the intakes to put the new head on, and even if you weren't taking the IM off, the Y8 head already has the Y8 mani. I don't know where you're coming from saying it would be a waste of time installing the Y8 intake. You have to bolt one of them on, so just go with the Y8. :p

By waste of time i meant switching all the hoses and stuff over, and i guess there is some holes i have to block or something too. Thanks for the reply! I am going to get this thing cleaned up and put it on with the head then. I have to finish my port and polish job and get my ecu out to zdyne so i can run vtec with the launch rev limiter and all that, then ill let you know how it goes. thanks again.

P.S. I would be alot closer to having this done if a damn lady in a van hadnt run me into a fence in my dads truck. body work is expensive!
