You can actually test the VINS against HONDA's own database by entering the VINS at this link:
You can verify the data with a script or by hand at this link.
The VINS are sequential.
I also cross checked the VINS of 119 sold CRX Si's over the last 2 years on Ebay and none of them fell outside the published ranges above.
UPDATE on DX and HF 2nd gen production numbers. The VIN calculations are identical to the Si as far as check digit goes. I ran the serials in 500 increments until they failed to produce any carfax records for the DX. The HF numbers are exact like the Si's above. The HF's have their own serial number set 1-XXXXX and the DX's 835 & 845 run together so no 835 VIN will have the same last five digits as an 845 VIN.

To figure out the 9th position or Check Value Digit or the value after "JHMED936":
1)Assign a value to letters in the VIN: A=1, B=2, C=3, D=4, E=5, F=6, G=7, H=8, J=1, K=2, L=3, M=4, N=5, P=7, R=9, S=2, T=3, U=4, V=5, W=6, X=7, Y=8, Z=9. (any numbers in the VIN retain their value so a 3=3 or 4=4)
2)Assign a value to all positions of the VIN, besides the 9th position (the check digit itself):
1=8, 2=7, 3=6, 4=5, 5=4, 6=3, 7=2, 8=10, 10=9, 11=8, 12=7, 13=6, 14=5, 15=4, 16=3, 17=2.
3) Multiply the value obtained in step 1 with the value obtained in step 2 for each of the 16 places in the VIN.
4) Find the sum of the 16 values obtained in step 3.
5) Divide the sum in step 4 by 11. Round the value of the digits to the right of the decimal up. This is the check digit number. If the value is 10 the check digit is an X.
Example 1: Value obtained in step 5 is 29.72 Check digit is 8
Example 2: Value obtained in step 5 is 29.00 Check digit is 0
Example 3: Value obtained in step 5 is 29.92 Check digit is X
:canada: I did the Si's. The VIN check digit formula is the same for Canada VINS the only difference is there is an 8 in the 12 position. If you have a JHMED CRX with a digit besides an 8 or 0 in the 12 position please list your digit and your country of origin and I may be able to figure out production numbers.
