Thanks for the kind words guys. It has taken me nearly 10 months to get to this point. I can't tell you guys how many times I wanted to just give up and quit. Every time I lost my inspiration I jumped online and browsed though members rides, pictures and even some total BS racing stories which always seemed to help me.

Here are a few updates...

Remember that gap between the windshield and the cowling that wasn't suppose to be there? You know the one from my little @$%# UP

Well here is a refresher...
Image

The spare rubber seal I used to fix it was originally from between the roof and the sunroof tray. I cut it to the length needed and used some 3M adhesive to attach it to the cowling. It isn't perfect but will work for now.
Image

After double then triple checking things I decided to take the car for a quick test drive down the road and back. I didn't make it very far before I realized the car was very hard to shift into 2nd gear. Putting the car in 1st gear wasn't exactly easy either.

When I installed the shifter I noticed that the shifter mount plate was crooked but didn't think much of it. The shifter linkage was supposedly a Zero play shift linkage and whoever welded it up didn't take the time to ensure it was properly clocked. Look at the arrows which point to the gaps between the shifter and the mount plate. The tips of the arrows are located on the edge of where the mounting plate contacts the shifter. The shifter is sitting in neutral which is between 3rd and 4th gear but the shifter is already tight to the left side of the mounting plate(left arrow touching the shifter) and the right side of the mount plate has a large gap between both the shifter and the bottom of the car where it should sit flush.
Image

My solution was to remove the linkage, cut and reweld it properly. I shortened the shifter linkage on my last B16 swapped EF civic so I was confident that I could do it right. How hard is it to weld two surfaces so they are inline? Stick one end in a vice and the other on a flat surface, done and done!
Image

Cut reclocked and about to weld it up. Here is a quick pic of how I held it together (pulled apart only for the picture), this makes it easier to weld since the hollow pipe has another one inside it which makes it thicker so there is less of a chance of burning through.
Image

With the shifter linkage welded up properly I took it for another rip down the road and back. She shifts beautifully and with the B&M shifter the throw is nice and short. A little shorter than I am use to but I think I will like it in time.

The car has a nice torquey feel and great acceleration. It would destroy my old B16 down low and seems comparable up top. The B16 would bog out if you didn't launch it high enough where the B20 seems to just take off. I made the mistake of launching it above 3500rpm and smoked the tires through first and second up to 5500rpm when it hooked. Another 1000rpm up top along with that VTEC sound would be nice but will have to wait for a little while.

With that said I have pulled the car into the shop and that is where it will stay until Monday when I tow it in for a Safety, Etest and four wheel alignment. My Speedo was unhooked but at 6000 ish rpm in 4th gear (85-90mph, 135-145km/h) the car was super hard to control. It was wandering all over the road and felt very sloppy. I am sure the guys at Windsor Spring and Alignment will have her fixed up for me on Monday. The wait over the weekend is going to kill me lol.

Here is a pic with the side protectors on. The car has only been wet sanded from just above the protectors down so there is still lots of sanding and polishing to do but it is coming along. It is difficult to tell with the white paint but she is dusty and needs a bath.
Image

I have a few finishing touches to add to the car over the weekend so I will keep tinkering away and keep you guys updated on the progress.

Planned Upgrades:

Front adjustable camber control arms

Custom (DIY) front traction bar

J's racing polyurethane front lip/spoiler

Ground Control coil sleeves with adjustable Koni yellow sport shocks

Constantly searching for a JDM center console

Tint the windows dark

LSD cable transmission upgrade

Neptune demon RTP and forced induction (turbo or maybe a JRSC)

2.5" Custom mandrel bent stainless steel midpipe (High flow cat, maybe from an S2K)

A nice set of reclining racing bucket seats, comfortable yet sturdy (Bride, Sparco, Recaro etc)

Hi Robb you are exactly right, good eyes. The offset is +32 and should be a +40 instead but these are the rims that came with the car when I bought her so they are what I am going to use. Plus I think they look great, I just don't want them to wreck my fenders lol.

Actually from the measurements I dug up the stock 14" wheels/tires on my 91 SI would be larger in diameter than my current 15" wheels/tires.

Stock wheels 14"x6" 195/60/14 = 23.21 inches

Your suggestion 15"x7" 195/50/15 = 22.68 inches

My current tires 15"x7.5" 205/50/15 = 23.07 inches

Your cars are beautiful by the way! They are all very clean and tastefully modified. You must have been collecting all of that CRX stuff for some time now. I'm kinda jealous of that stack of parts lol.

How do you like the Pic racing coilovers?? I have heard good things but don't know anyone who has them. The 12k and 14k spring rates sound really stiff how does it ride? Your tires tuck in really nice, since I don't have coilovers yet I can't get that look. Are you running your inner fenders or are they removed?

I already have Vogtland drop springs on the car as it sits...lowered at least 1.2 inches if not more. There is currently no rubbing but I haven't had the chance to do much driving and haven't hit any big bumps or potholes yet. I can't and won't drop the car anymore if I plan to drive it. If I do I won't be able to drive down half of the roads in my area and won't make it out or in half of the driveways in the city. Been there, done that.

When I track the car I will replace the Konig rims with Mugen MF10 replica rims that are 15x6.5 with a +40 offset and stickier racing tires. They should tuck and prevent any rubbing.

The gap does look a bit funny but I like how they stick out...I am a little weird I guess lol.

Well, Ive had these PIC Coilovers since 2004 and havent had any issues whatsoever.
Theyve seen roughly 45,000 km now on terrible Toronto roads too !
No rust issues and no leaks !

Car looks great! If you get Konis with GC you can adjust the GC to have a height the same as OEM. My sleeper crx has Koni with GC, and I adjusted my GC so I would have stock height. My front lowered maybe less than half an inch and rear, well I need to adjust em again. They are higher than it was stock lol, so i need to lower her a bit. I have pics on my build thread. I have two, she's sleeper.

Glad to hear you like the b20 setup, I think I'm going to try and hunt down a b16 tranny now. This is random but I noticed the motorcycle in the background, you mind throwing up a couple pics of it? I LOVE vintage honda motorcycles. I have a 1971 CB500 twin :)b

For sure I can post some pics, it may not be a CRX but it is still a Honda lol. The CBs were nice bikes, simple and quick for the age. I would love to get my hands on a CB400 and turn it into a cafe racer. My old man is the Goldwing fan and has a 76 as well as 3 or 4 others in pieces and parts but that blue one is mine, she is a 1978 Honda Goldwing GL1000. The carbs were just rebuilt and I was out riding it a few weeks ago until my dad and his friend decided to attempt to sync them. It was idling rough before and now when it starts up it will race up to 3000+rpm and sit there until you twist the throttle backwards. It is like they somehow bent the pins in the linkages or something. I also have a 1975 that I will be rebuilding hopefully this winter.

Sorry for the thread jack but you seem interested:

It hasn't run in 20 something years but it's in fantastic shape, all in part to it being kept in a garage at my lake house. Pictures aren't great because it is CRAMMED in the very back and hard to get to. It's going to need a light rebuild to get her back on the road.

Sorry guys I haven't been on here in a while.

NVROUTGUND here are some pics of the motorcycle hiding in the background that you were interested in.

Here is a quick update on the car.

During a short test drive I found a tear in the passenger CV boot all too late and it made a mess of my clean white engine bay.

Image

All fixed up and ready to be re-installed.

Image

Here are a couple pictures of the car loaded up on the trailer before heading out for the safety and etest. As you can see the tires tuck just fine!

Image

Do you know how much force it took to pull the suspension down this far?!?! And again it tucks! (barely)

Image

The mechanic that ended up doing the four wheel alignment also did the safety since the car was already in his bay and on his hoist. He looked at me and started complaining immediately..."What a waist of my time, everything is new on this damn car!" I couldn't help but laugh a little bit.

She passed the safety with ease (except a licence plate bulb, lol). The mechanic even shook my hand and gave me a pat on the back telling me I did a good job. Its always nice to hear from someone who not only sees and works on cars every day but who also wasn't an import guy!

The etest was a breeze as well. The stock crx catalytic converter did its job even for the B20 and she is now licenced and on the road, unfortunately not for long. My insurance company decided out of all of the many reasons (modifications) that they could have used to cancel my coverage that they would choose my COLD AIR INTAKE lol. What a joke! I sat there listening to the representative explain how a cold air intake is an unacceptable performance modification that causes untold risks lol. :)b

Thanks for the motorcycle pics! I was starting to wonder what happened to ya lol... The car looks great man. Love the white. Whatre you going to do to get the car insured? Im guessing remove the intake for inspection purposes then while nobody is watching stick it back on?

Sorry man but I would much rather be wrenching then typing and I usually only pop on here when I can't sleep. I will adjust the email settings on my account to receive notifications again so I should respond quicker. I don't think that particular insurance company will insure me now. Seeing as the appraisal is like an insurance inspection...not sure but I don't think there is any arguing with them about this one.

My best bet is to actually buy another car and insure it lol. This one was meant to be my DD when I finished her and I can't bring myself to drive it through the winter so I will store it away and it will become a weekend cruiser/pleasure car (Unless I find the right buyer for her). If I do that I can actually get Hagerty Classical/Modified insurance for about $350 for the entire year or a similar type of insurance for in between $150-$200 for the year but it has slightly higher deductibles.

I need to get some recent pictures of the car, its newly installed rain visors, the almost mint interior as well as the CD Player and Equalizer that I just installed posted up! I am super excited about this considering they were supposedly both broken when I bought them. I installed them using the BNIB radio bezel(will also include pics of this) that I picked up when I bought the rain visors. Once everything was wired up I plugged in the CD Player, punched in the security "C0dE" and viola she came to life! The CD player actually functions perfectly (radio and discs) and I only played with the Equalizer enough to verify that it worked as well before shutting it off (I don't want to ruin my new component set).

I did my best to hide the component speaker set. The rears fit nicely under the covers but the fronts as seen in this photo did not. The tweeters were actually surrounded with a silver bezel which I painted black so they wouldn't stand out so much. Luckily I have another set or two of speaker covers incase I want to return it to stock or find a spot that they can be hiden...or if I ever install those power mirrors maybe I can find tweeter inserts for the mirror directional/control locations.

The CD player works perfectly and I have only turned on the Equalizer to make sure it works. Both function but I wish I new enough about the equalizer to actually use it

I picked up these Black Honda emblems and plan on installing the front one soon.

Hopefully there are enough pictures to keep people happy for a little while.

Actually that is in Kms so there would be less than 1000 miles on her LOL.

I replaced the gauge cluster when I restored the car. Essentially I put the first kms(miles) on her myself after the restoration and this is where she is at right now. So yes only 1490 kms lol. :)b
