i have recently swapped my front brakes on my 91 crx si for a set of gsr brakes. i had this set up on my old car except i had the gsr in the back also. my question is can i keep the same proportioning valve that came on my si using the gsr fronts and stock si rear. i plant to upgrade the master cylinder but i know that only has an effect on the pedal and how it feels. let me know your thoughts guys.

I think all the rears are the same across the board. I only ever see "except Type-R" on anything for the rears. I've heard both sides that you NEED to replace it and that it doesn't matter. I swapped mine, it wasn't too bad I actually bought a second one because I couldn't find the one I had. Of course, I found it after I finished the job.

All integra brakes except type r are the same. They all have 10.3" rotors and use the same calipers. What "bolted on"? The only way to get 10.3" brakes on a crx is to either use 90-91 civic ex knuckles which give proper geometry, or use the da knuckles which are taller and have incorrect geometry. Or you can use type r calipers on stock knuckles with a 10.3" rotor, but it requires a good bit of modification and is a pain IMO (I've done it)

I'd recommend using a 15/16" master cylinder. Gives better brake feel. It's stiffer, but some argue you have to put more effort into braking with a larger MC. I didn't really notice, I just like the firmer feel better.

hmm well i took my stock calipers off and bolted what i was told were GSR calipers on. they are significantly bigger than the stock si brake calipers. when i get home i will measure the rotor and see if there is a number on the calipers. either way this set up worked really good on my old crx, much better than the stock si set up.

If that's the case, you may just be using a larger integra caliper on stock sized brakes. Report back with rotor size. Stock is about 9.5". I know for sure you can't just bolt up an integra caliper and use 10.3" rotors.

now im even questioning of they are really from and integra all i can say for sure is they are much larger than stock calipers. they were on my last crx when i bought them so i dont know for sure what they came from.

that is a caliper for 11" rotors (like ITR, Accord wagon, etc), thats why it works with your setup. similar to my old setup. if you take the brackets off they are probably modified on the mounting surface to the knuckle, or there is a spacer under the rotor.

id get a 15/16" MC at least. you can get a reman one for a decent price. order one for a 90-91 Civic EX. it will bolt up.

when i found out what the calipers were from i figure they had to be modified. i will be swapping to a 15/16" mc (now i will have to redo my tucked brake lines ugh) what about the prop valve will i need a 4040?

thanks for the help so far guys.
