Nicely done, great detailed wrietup with good pics!

The glasstop swap is very cool, but you need to have the time, patience, skills and cash to do it right!
yeah hes got like hundreds of dollars in clamps alone lol he kept all the tags on them...bet they were returned lol

Awesome work! Like tuna asked, did the glass remove easily and did you have to find/order anew rubber seal.

Also it looks like all the bar-codes were left of the clamps. I have returned some tools after a one time use as well. Thanks for posting this, it will help a lot of people I think

I'm curious if anyone here knows of a body shop that has done this install before with great results, preferably more than once.

I'm looking for glass tops now for my own conversion in the next year or so, and don't have the time or skills to do it myself. Would rather go to someone with experience and knows what they're doing and can give a real OEM fit.

Any place in the continental US that has done this?

Any reasonable body shop could do it, because it's basically a roof panel swap + a glass install + a few extra details. The question is more about finding one that's willing. Don't go to the places that deal mostly with insurance jobs. Look for a place that works on hot rods & older/muscle cars and custom, cash jobs like that. If you ask car groups in your region you'll probably find a shop like that. Then you'll have to explain what's involved, and understand that no body shop will take liability for separating the glass from the roof first. I knew a shop in Oklahoma that was going to do it for me, but I moved before it could happen there.

So when you removed the glass from its original top, is there a rubber seal around the glass?
How did you mate the glass on to the new top?
Nope...its a simple glass removal and install. Any glass shop should be able to remove it and install it.

The key is finding someone willing to remove it lol...it took me a while. The install was simple.
