D15B2 <-> D15Z1 engine block interchange or compatibility?

Hello everyone.
I would really appreciate some advice from someone who's more knowledgeable about this than I am.

I am trying to build a D15Z1 VTEC-E drivetrain to put in my CRX HF. I already have a rebuilt head from a D15Z1 here.
I also have an old 91'CRX DX automatic here which I am parting out. The car was taken off the road by the previous owner when the car broke a timing belt at 196,000 miles. I am wondering if it is worth my time to pull the engine and save the block for rebuilding (fresh bearings, pistons, rings, etc...) and try to mate the D15Z1 head that I already have on top of it. The marking on the DX block says D15B2. As far as I can tell it's still completely stock.
Will my idea of mating the VTEC-E head on to the D15B2 block work? Or is there some fundamental incompatability between the two?
From everything I've ever heard in the past, I was under the impression that most blocks from any D15 series motor from 88-95 are basically the same...?
Please advise... Thanks!!
