i just recently noticed that when i brake hard i would hear a popping noise on the driver side. i jacked up the car today and took a look but couldn't find anything out of the the ordinary. i read that this may be cause by the wheel hub, but i replaced it about a year ago on both side.
any idea as to the cause? i am thinking it may be cause by worn out bushing or suspension related.

my setup:
stock 91 crx hf with complete integra brake upgrades

i post a while back with my car having clicking noise when i turn, which i still have but doesn't seem to effect anything.

i had a pop on the passenger side. i replaced my inner and outer tie rods and the rack end bushing and the steering is much smoother and theres no pop. I have read alot that the steering rack end bushing causes a pop during hard braking or turning right. usually on the passenger side from what i have read though. it might be worth checking into especially since you have that clicking when u turn.

so is that a bad thing? i mean i jacked up the car and inspect the boots and didn't see any tear at all, i saw some grease which seem to have "shot" out of the boot, but i think that grease is from the previous cv axle, cause this axle didn't have any tear in any of the boots.
you think this would cause a problem if i was to drive for say 20hrs non stop? i did a 48hrs drive in 2 1/2 day last month to cali and didn't have any problems.

ebay.... no j/k i got the 91 crx si axles from autozone, with lifetime warranty.
its weird i don't know where i went wrong with this da brake conversion, i mean it works great just the clicking noise on turns and now a popping noise on the driver side axle/knuckle area when i brake hard or make a hard right turn.

crawl under and check everything for loose parts. i had a clicking noise on my car again and i found it was where the bar going from the knuckle to the front subframe and the nut was loose on the front of the subframe where it comes through the other side. snugged it up and no more noise :)b

i check underneath the car and didn't see anything loose except one bolt which i tighten then took it out for a test drive and it still click and make that popping noise.
i took some picture maybe someone can spot something wrong.

i think the item i circled in red/blue can be what is causing the clicking noise or popping noise

the bolt that i circled in red was the bolt that was loose which i tighten

Well looks like judging by that 5th picture your CV joint on the tranny side is over-extended, which would explain the popping. I actually had the same thing nearly cause me to crash because it seized up on me while cornering. This is often due to the re-manufacturing process, like with mine they chopped the good end off of the tranny side of one, then chopped the good end off the hub side of another and welded them together, well problem was they didnt measure it when they finished it because it was significantly shorter than it should have been. So these days I only buy the brand new ones, and haven't had problems, the reman ones often click and crap anyway. I would go back and ask which one they gave you whether it was brand new or reman. I suspect reman.

Also another thing to check would be the big rear trailing arm bushings, those tend make noises under braking when they go.

Another thing it could be is just a bad ball joint, theres 1 on the top, and bottom of the part the axle goes thru (knuckle) and theres a third in the middle that ur steering rack connects to. with the car jacked up you can grab next them and pull back and forth on the knuckle and on the tie rod ends to try and wiggle and see if theres any play in them tho sometimes u can't feel it. That axle looks like bad news for sure tho. Also, see if they can order the new axle, alot of times they won't stock them but can have them ordered. If theres a Napa where you live, check there, last time I bought a new one, they had one in stock at Napa. I suppose it could be your hub bearings too, but I don't think I've ever heard of those going bad so thats doubtful.

i just had the wheel bearing change last year and also replace the outer tie rod which came with a new ball joint, so i know that is still good (plus i checked it). i hope the other two ball joints are still good.
i think i will go order a new axle from o'reily today, i rather start there then try to replace the other ball joints.

after almost 2 years and 6 sets of reman from autozone i finally fix the clicking noise problem on my da brake upgrade. i return the F'in axles and they refunded me CASH for it about 200 total and i purchased new axles from o'reilly and you know it only cost me 150 for both. wtf? new axles cost less than reman?
anyhow thanks for the suggestion shadow.

that didn't fix that popping noise, but i think the problem is probably what i circled in red on the first/second pictures. so i will replace the endlink bushing w/energy suspension unless someone has a better suggestion.

i know when i put on the axle the passenger had the dust cap on the hub and the driver doesn't but i don't think that would cause any problem.

today i replace the driver lower control arm bushings and also the driver stabilizer bar bushings that connect to the sway bar and still the popping noise remain.

next thing to do will be to replace the radius rod bushing, and if that doesn't fix the problem than i will take it to a mechanic.
all the forum i've red point to the problem being: axle, lower control arm bushings, stabilizer bushing, ball joints, and radius rod bushing.
