I'm going to use this as my new official restoration thread so I can start of fresh and make sure all of my photos don't get expired, ect., ect.

But anyways!!! Its been a long time coming and I'm just getting started so expect this to take a little time as usual.

I'm not actually going to start of the day I bought it, were going to jump 3 years ahead past the whole (just to get it running stage). She's old, unkept, and tired.

Image

And as she sits now, this weekend I'm going to pull all the wiring from the car and meticulously remove every wire in the interior that I don't need. (Seat belt alarms, climate control harnesses, radio harness, ect.)

Image

Got my wiring diagrams right hear actually!!! Oh and I couldn't resist getting my new torque wrench and hot wheels in the picture ;)

I'm going to take a very wild guess and say I'm looking at around a year project, lots of unique ideas, but nothing ricey or flashy, no 1000hp, no 1000db sound system, just unique and mine.

As of today. Just worked more on teardown and planning. I know I'm doing a full engine harness swap for a rywire harness, going to keep the same chassis harness though. And I was wondering if I need to replace or keep the baro sensor if I swap out harnesses.??

Anyways, a progress photo.

Its a mess but its a whole lot of fun.

Edit: Half hour progress. Might as well add this before I relax before bed.

Got all of the passenger side harness pulled through, tagged. And I have to get a torx bit to pull the door sills so I'll probably snag one from work tomorrow and get the rest of the carpet pulled out and vacuum out the interior.

I would have gotten more done but yesterday a few friends decided to come over and throw a "house warming, get hammered and get lost in the woods," party
CHEERS SAYS, I!!!

I was talking to a girl at the carpet store and they actually have nice black cut pile carpeting and said they may be able to make me a new one if I bring in the old one. We will see. If not im going to hang it up and clean the hell out of it.

Sears had a hell of a deal on tools today. Pucked up a 3 piece angled pry bar set, 7piece torx bit set, and a really nice led work light for 40 bucks!!

This weekend promises to give me good weather so I promise the rest of the wiring gets pulled and the car begins the cleaning stage.

Also I ordered tons of wiring supplies, heat shrink tubing, expandable loom, and a soldering station. If you guys can think of any specialty tools I may need let me know so I can pick them up.

Edit. More toys for the weekends work!!!
100' of 3/8"-3/4" expandable loom, 50' of 1/2" max expandable loom, 25' of 1/2" 3:1 shrink tube.

Imma get some wiring done apparently!!!!

Also, the exhaust and the power steering pump for the daily came in today so that will have to be replaced too.

Oh and apparently if you stick your finger in the expandable loom and try to pull it out, its worse than a Chinese finger trap. I was stuck in mine for like 10 minutes.

This will be my first shave bay, I know its tedious and I expect it to take time. I'm almost certain this will be my first and last shave and tuck.

First set of many washes to come. Gotta borrow a lift so I can pull the motor, I want to move fast with the rest of the teardown because I know how fast the warm weather is going to fly by. Next thing we know it will be winter again.

where did you get your "tucking" supplies?
I'm going a mild tuck myself, and would like to re-loom some things.
of course, personally I can't see using expandable loom where it might get dirt/moisture.

can I hear your feelings on that? I might just go that sort of loom for the tuck if the reasoning makes sense... but that's alot of work no matter how we do it.

also, that's nice shrink work, the hard part is going to be keeping every joint the same length :p
http://www.cableorganizer.com . I just use them for supplies because they are a familiar company.

The dirt and moisture I'm not concerned about, yes it will get in there. But because of what I'm doing I do not plan on driving anywhere near dirt, mud, or in the rain. For someone who is, I would just pack the plugs with dielectric grease and I would feel safe.

Edit, I should note however that I get my shrink tube, pins, connectors, and wire from that company. But the expanded loom I got was on sale on eBay. I got the lengths I stated before for less than 10 dollars.

I have my daily driver, this is my project, my toy. now I need to just keep working on this so I don't fall back into bad habits. That's ALOT of why I do this, this car has gotten me away from bad habits and just working on it is a better high than anything else.

Stripping down to the basics.

And there is a lot of love in this community. Much tighter than any other forum, a lot of respect, a lot of bitching. I consider it family. Its just cool to finally be on the other side of the fence, I usually watch peoples builds. Now Im being watched.

Alrighty I got the stripping of the harness all done. Now im going to put it back in and mock up the tuck, get all the lengths where I want it. Tear it back out and clean it. And do the loom!!! Hoping to have that done next weekend because the daily needs lots of work as well.

Edit. Doing the ecu wiring now ;)

My ecu B connector plug was really really messed up. Most of the wires being green instead of what they are supposed to be really screwed me over, so I'm going to get a new multimeter and test them all and make sure they're right.

But here's pretty much what it will be like!!!
